Williamson County
Reporting directly to Pretrial Services Manager, responsible for performing duties within the Magistration Court to assist the Associate Judge’s in conducting Magistration Hearings. Prepares legal documents, handles communications associated with Magistration, disseminates completed legal orders/information to various stakeholders and enters data into required databases.
Reviews jailing information for newly arrested inmates, ensuring all necessary information is included and assigns to appropriate court/jurisdiction.
Prepares legal documents including warrants, blood search warrants, personal bonds, bond conditions, emergency protective orders, mental health assessment orders and any other legal orders requested by Associate Judge.
Prioritizes and completes time sensitive work.
Works efficiently and effectively individually and as a team.
Handles confidential information independently and under the general direction of Associate Judge in compliance with department policies.
Assists Associate Judge during Magistration, gathers information, preparing documents following up on outside communication and other associated tasks as directed by the Associate Judge.
Ensures proper completion, signature and filing of legal documents.
Distributes legal documents to all appropriate courts, County departments and agencies.
Enters data into local and state databases per state statutes.
Responds to contacts, communications and inquiries related to Magistration matters, including from law enforcement, defendants, victims, attorneys, County and District Courts, County and District Attorney, Justice of the Peace, Municipal Court, and from out of county and state courts.
Attends all meetings and trainings as required.
Performs special duties as assigned.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Position involves prolonged sitting at a workstation, visual examination of documents, reaching, walking, twisting, bending, standing and occasional lifting/carrying.
ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS
Work is primarily indoors in an air-conditioned environment.
Work is regularly performed in a secured area of the jail.
Interaction with persons accused or convicted of crimes.
IRREGULAR HOURS
Work outside of regular office hours (Monday-Friday) is required.
Rotating weekends and holidays is required.

High school diploma or equivalent.
Two (2) years of clerical experience in an office setting.
Working knowledge of specific job-related technology.
LICENSES AND CERTIFICATIONS
Required within thirty (30) days of employment.
Valid driver’s license.
Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) certification.
Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Associate Degree in the Criminal Justice field.
Prior work experience in a court or legal setting.
Experience with Odyssey Navigator.
