Assess participants’ needs. Answer the crisis hotline and provide callers and program participants with empowerment-based crisis counseling, guidance, emotional support, information, and referrals. Determine if emergency shelter is needed and offer assistance. Assess lethality of situations. Assist in developing and implementing safety plans. Provide information on domestic violence dynamics. Offer empowerment-based counseling (face-to-face and/or via telephone) in individual or group settings. Assist with filing for restraining orders, injunctions, protective orders, immigration, and other petitions. Support victims through the criminal justice process. Help victims file for compensation claims, including informing about resources, completing forms, and gathering documentation. Assist victims in securing rights, remedies, and services, including emergency financial aid, TANF benefits, and other resources. Make referrals and provide vouchers or supplies as needed. Report elder abuse, child abuse, or other required reports. Maintain and report statistical data and documentation as required. Refer and advocate for community resources. Follow Shelter policies and procedures. Minimum Qualifications

Associate’s Degree in Human Services, Counseling, or Social Services. Bi-lingual preferred. Two years of experience in domestic violence intervention and prevention preferred. Training and experience in crisis intervention counseling preferred. Ability to advocate effectively for victims. Remain calm under pressure. Strong organizational and computer skills.
