Overview The Telecommunications Analyst coordinates telecommunication support for telephone, cellular, and wireless systems. Responsible for countywide telephone service, faxes, TDD, cellular, wireless, and data lines.

The primary location for this full-time, exempt position is Lecanto, Florida.

Responsibilities

Supports day-to-day operations of the County’s telecommunications and radio systems, including mobile devices, telephones, tablets, and related hardware/software.

Implements and maintains the Mobile Device Management (MDM) system, including user setup, device enrollment, troubleshooting, and user support.

Assists departments and staff with telecommunication needs by providing technical advice on hardware, software, and peripheral equipment.

Coordinates telecommunications service requests, including installations, adds, moves, and changes, working with vendors and County staff to ensure timely completion.

Provides technical support for County radio systems, assisting with equipment setup, configuration, troubleshooting, and user training.

Maintains telecommunications records, databases, and inventories to ensure accuracy and availability of system information.

Educates end-users on system features and functionality to enhance efficiency and proper use of telecommunications resources.

Serves as a backup to the Telecommunications Administrator during absences, assisting with higher-level responsibilities as delegated.

Collaborates with the Administrator to ensure continuity of operations and cross-training across functions.

Stays current with telecommunications and wireless industry advancements, applying knowledge to improve user support and system reliability.

Drives and/or operates a county vehicle or equipment and must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Education, Training, and Experience

Bachelor’s level degree in computer or telecommunications technology and two (2) years professional experience in analysis, management, or design of a telecommunications system’s administrative and operational requirements; or

Associate’s level degree in computer or telecommunications technology and four (4) years full time experience in a department or division’s telecommunication’s function; or

Equivalent combination of education, training, and/or experience.

Telecommunications experience in a multi-location telecommunication system and contact center environment required.

Skills And Abilities

Strong project management and organizational skills required.

Excellent customer service skills are required.

Ability to effectively communicate (verbally and in writing) in a clear, confident manner using proper grammar.

Ability and experience speaking formally and informally to management, groups of co-workers, staff in other organizational agencies, the public, and people in other organizations.

Requires ability to maintain courteous and effective relations with County staff, elected officials, community interest groups and the public.

Must have strong working knowledge of computers and be proficient in the use of Microsoft Office Suite of Products (i.e., Outlook, Word, Excel, etc.).

Certificates, Licenses, and Registration

Valid Florida Driver License or must obtain within 30 days of establishing residency in Florida.

CTA Certified Telecommunications Analyst, CVA Certified VoIP Analyst, Sec , Net /CCNA, ISC2 CC preferred.

Must have or be able to obtain within 90 days certification in FEMA National Incident Management System (NIMS) courses: IS-100.c, Introduction to the Incident Command System (ICS); and IS-700.b, An Introduction to the National Incident Management System.

Physical Requirements/Work Environment

Requires sitting most of the day.

The job involves frequent lifting and carrying up to 10 pounds, and occasionally up to 20 pounds.

The job requires frequent balancing and occasional reaching above shoulders.

The job requires the completion of tasks that involve frequent typing, operating foot controls/levers, driving automotive equipment, and occasional simple grasping and fine manual manipulation.

The job requires normal visual acuity and field of vision, depth perception and color vision, hearing, and speaking.

The job may risk exposure to adverse weather, moving machinery, and extreme noise.

Emergency Response/Recovery Activities

All employees will be required to work before, during, or after an emergency. During an emergency, employees may temporarily be assigned to work and perform duties outside the normal scope of their position, location, and work schedule to fit the needs of the County and its citizens. Emergency response duties may also include driving and/or operating a county vehicle or equipment and employees must obey all safety policies, and roadway rules and laws.

Basis of Rating:
