COMPENSATION : $36.25 - 50.75/hr, DOQ (equivalent to: $75,400.00 - 105,560.00/yr) FUTURE POSSIBLE COMPENSATION:

Historically, the City of Roanoke has granted a 4% base pay increase to employees that successfully complete their probationary process.

For example : an employee earning $76,000.00/yr would move to a rate of $79,040.00/yr if they successfully complete their 6-month probationary period. SCHEDULING : Must be flexible to work any and all shifts in a 24/7 emergency dispatching environment. POSITION SUMMARY :Under general supervision of the Police Captain or their designee, the incumbent performs various duties to plan, direct, oversee, and manage the activities and operations of the Dispatch division of the City of Roanoke in order to support and maintain a high-quality emergency communications program for the Police Department, Fire Department, and all other departments that utilize the City’s communication system. The incumbent oversees all aspects of communications, including but not limited to: personnel, budget, equipment, and various legal issues and requirements. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Meet all minimum qualifications of Dispatcher. A minimum of sixty (60) credit hours from an accredited university or college required. Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, emergency management, public administration, or related field preferred. A minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible experience in emergency communications required. A minimum of one (1) year of experience in a lead or supervisory role required. Certifications/Credentials :

Current and active Advanced Telecommunicator license as issued by the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement (TCOLE). Texas Law Enforcement Telecommunications System (TLETS) Texas and National Crime Information Center (TCIC/NCIC)

Qualified applicants will be required to pass a Communications compatibility and skills testing modules which evaluate data entry/keyboarding speed (minimum 40wpm), multi-tasking, memory recall, map reading, numerical prioritization, reading comprehension, spelling, and sentence clarity. Must have a valid Texas Driver's License prior to employment and safe driving record. Must pass a background check, driving record check, polygraph, psychological assessment, and medical screen to include hearing test.
