P & C Designer (Protection and Controls) – Remote GFT is seeking an experienced Substation P & C Designer to join our Power Group. This remote role involves design and protection and control work for high voltage substations, supporting projects in power transmission, distribution, and renewable energy with a focus on reliability and efficiency. What You Will Do

Design and execution of high-voltage substations projects in the 4kV – 765kV range with emphasis on safety, cost, quality, and reliability. Generate designs and detailed engineering deliverables under the supervision of the lead engineer and project manager. Complete basic engineering calculations related to design deliverables. Develop one- and three-line diagrams; schematics and wiring diagrams; control and relay panel layout and specifications; panel wiring diagrams; SCADA interfaces including RTUs, HMIs, and IEDs; auxiliary system design (batteries and chargers). Compile a complete list of relay and control materials for substation projects and quote/order materials as needed per contractual agreements. Follow instructions from supervisors or engineers for more complex design assignments requiring standard design principles. Review and interpret substation drawings to ensure installation and operation meet industry standards and customer requirements. Travel to job sites for project assessment and data gathering as needed. Communicate and interact with clients and perform quality reviews of projects completed by peers. Education & Experience

2+ years of relevant substation or general electrical T&D design experience. Proficiency with computer-aided drafting (AutoCAD & MicroStation). Knowledge of NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes; familiarity with substation voltages (MV, HV, EHV). Ability to apply project schedules to complete tasks timely and within budget. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence; ability to review project documents and suggest value engineering ideas. Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams). What We Prefer You Bring

Experience in the energy industry or a consulting environment. Thorough knowledge of NESC, NEC, and IEEE codes. Compensation

The salary range for this role is $70,000 - $90,000. Salary is dependent upon experience and geographic location. Benefits
