The University of Virginia’s College at Wise invites applicants for a Resident Counselor position.
Position Overview The Resident Counselor is a full-time, 12-month (year-round), resident licensed position within The Counseling Center. The Resident Counselor reports to the Director of Counseling and will:
Submit necessary application and supporting materials to the Virginia Board of Counseling for Resident Licensure.
Complete a 3400-hour residency in accordance with regulations set forth by the Virginia Board of Counseling.
Participate in weekly one-on-one supervision with the Director of Counseling.
Pass the National Clinical Mental Health Counseling Examination.
Serve on the after-hours on-call rotation for crisis intervention for UVA Wise students.
Attend weekly Counseling Center staff meetings.
Provide psycho-educational, awareness, and prevention programs to the campus community.
Provide counseling services, including assessments, clinical treatment, diagnosis, treatment planning and implementation, walk-in services, and referrals to appropriate community resources.
Offer consultation and referral services to staff and faculty as needed.
Participate in professional development activities and maintain memberships in relevant organizations.
Maintain licensure requirements and foster relationships with community agencies for referrals.
Contribute as a member of the Student Affairs team in various capacities.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Director of Counseling.
Requirements Master's Degree, licensed eligible.
