Water Law Attorney - Salt Lake City, Utah

Parsons Behle & Latimer is seeking a water law attorney with at least 3-5 years of water law experienceto join the Environmental, Energy, and Natural Resources Department in the Salt Lake City office, although candidates with fewer years of experience will be considered.Parsons is a regional law firm headquartered in Salt Lake City that has national expertise in numerous practice areas.The firm is at the forefront of the legal communities in Utah, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, Wyoming and the Intermountain Region. The ideal candidate will have experience in water law with a strong interest in developing expertise in this subject area in Utah. Requirements: Prepare and file applications and requests with the Utah State Engineer Participate in adjudicative proceedings before the Utah State Engineer Support water-related litigation through research and drafting briefs Prepare and defend claims in water rights general adjudication Advise clients regarding management and use of water rights Assist with water transactions, including conducting due diligence, valuing water rights, and drafting purchase and sale agreements and leases Advise regarding construction and real estate agreements related to water infrastructure projects Qualifications: Existing experience with Utah water law is highly desirable; however, experience in related legal fields will be considered favorably (e.g., other state water law, real estate, public lands, environmental, or litigation) Experience with laws applicable to Utah political subdivisions (or similar laws in other states), including the Administrative Procedures Act, Open and Public Meetings Act, and laws applicable to municipalities, counties, districts, and interlocal entities Keen attention to detail Ability to perform complex work with accuracy and timeliness Ability to multi-task and prioritize Strong problem solving, strategic and analytical capability Highly motivated, goal-oriented person who is comfortable working both independently and collaboratively Exceptional written and verbal communication skills Good judgment and adherence to high ethical standards Strong academic credentials Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school Admitted to practice in Utah or ability to be admitted by motion Parsons activelyrecruits to obtain an applicant pool of candidates from a variety of diverse backgrounds.Interested candidates should email a cover letter and resume to Susie Headlee atsheadlee@parsonsbehle.com .
