Position Title: University Counselor (Student Services Professional-Academic Related 1) Department/College summary: Sacramento State is an AANAPISI, Hispanic serving institution, as well as a Black Honors College with over 31,000 students located six miles from Downtown Sacramento. SHCWS (Sacramento State Student Health, Counseling, and Wellness Services) is a fully integrated mental and physical health and wellness facility. The Counseling and Psychological Services team is dedicated to promoting holistic well‑being and personal growth of our diverse student population through individual/group therapy, crisis management, psychoeducation, connection to resources, and outreach programs. Position Details

Under the supervision of the Senior Associate Vice President, the University Counselor will provide a full range of culturally sensitive clinical and non‑clinical services for Sacramento State students. A major focus includes conducting assessments (ADHD, neurodiversity, and personality assessment) as well as providing clinical services including short‑term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention, psycho‑educational workshops, and case management. The psychologist will also provide campus outreach, training, and consultation to students, faculty, and staff. This is a full‑time, temporary position eligible for annual renewal and includes a robust benefits package. Salary range: $7,127 – $12,771 per month; anticipated salary: $7,127 – $8,884 per month. Job Duties

Direct Counseling/Clinical Services: Provide direct clinical services including assessment/diagnosis, short‑term individual and couples counseling, group psychotherapy, crisis intervention and follow‑up, and case management; collaborate with primary care physicians, psychiatrists, nurse practitioners, and other medical providers to provide comprehensive care for students in compliance with EO 1053. Telehealth on site may be included. Assessment: Provide comprehensive mental health assessments (ADHD, learning disability, and diagnostic assessments). Administer and interpret assessments such as CAARS, CPT‑3, WRAML‑3, WMS‑IV, WAIS‑IV, CPI; coordinate with Disability Access Services for accommodations; conduct ADHD/LD screenings. Outreach and Program Development: Develop and implement programs including presentations, workshops, prevention projects, residence hall training, seminars, mental health screenings, and other outreach services. Consultation: Provide consultative expertise to the university community on mental health and psychological well‑being; offer in‑service training to faculty, administrators, and student leaders as needed. Qualifications

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Licensed as a Psychologist, LMFT, or LPCC in California. Recent and relevant clinical practice experience. Clinical Skills Experience in assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning within a brief therapy model; experience providing individual and group therapy. Proven ability to provide clinical services and support to underrepresented and marginalized populations, including students with diverse identities. Experience with high‑risk clients and crisis intervention. Cultural/Racial Competence Commitment to ongoing multicultural competency in personal, professional, and clinical contexts; commitment to anti‑racism. Training/ Supervision Experience and interest in clinical supervision; developing small group training seminars and workshops; delivering outreach presentations; providing mental health consultation. Professionalism Ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team; excellent interpersonal skills; experience with electronic medical records systems. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience in university counseling centers; assessing and screening ADHD/LD concerns; interest in working with non‑traditional and first‑generation students; experience in a multi‑disciplinary, integrated health care facility. This is a full‑time, temporary 12‑month appointment in the Student Services Professional‑Academic Related 1 classification. It is not probationary and does not guarantee future appointments; renewal is possible depending on performance and program needs. Vacation accrual is 16 hours per month.
