Skills & Qualifications
To qualify, you will need
5+ years of experience as a prosecutor or in leading a prosecutorial team , along with
a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice
or a related field.
A Juris Doctorate , prior
experience with Tribal or Federal prosecutions , and
membership in or eligibility for the Arizona State Bar
are strongly preferred. The following are
required : No conviction of a serious misdemeanor within one year of the application date, whether on the Reservation or in another jurisdiction A valid driver’s license with the ability to pass an MVR check Ability to undergo a criminal background check Ability to submit to pre-employment and random drug/alcohol screenings Additionally, the following skills and background will be highly valued: Familiarity with civil, juvenile, and criminal law, including domestic violence and family matters Strong knowledge of Tribal, Arizona State, and Federal law as it applies in a prosecutorial setting Experience mentoring legal teams with a focus on training and developing future Hualapai Tribal prosecutors Knowledge of Tribal Court policies, procedures, and judicial reporting Strong verbal and written communication skills for building and presenting cases Understanding of interagency collaboration with law enforcement and community partners Ability to manage department budgets and reporting under judicial contracts As our ideal candidate, you will possess strong leadership, sound judgment, and a long-term commitment to community justice, along with integrity, cultural awareness, and a passion for mentorship and public service. More specifically, your responsibilities include but are not limited to: Leading and supervising a multidisciplinary prosecutorial team, including Assistant Prosecutors across domestic violence, youth, and family law Preparing and prosecuting adult and juvenile cases in Tribal Court Reviewing and filing complaints, motions, and related legal documents Interviewing victims, witnesses, law enforcement, and other key parties Applying Tribal, Arizona State, and Federal law to guide prosecutorial decisions Mentoring and training team members with a long-term vision of developing Hualapai prosecutors Overseeing department budgeting and reporting in line with judicial contract requirements Upholding professional relationships with law enforcement, Tribal departments, and the community Salary & Benefits
