Position Description

Job Title: Family Ministries Pastor Position Type: Full-Time Reports To: Operations Pastor; Lead Pastor Location: Fairfield Christian Church, Kokomo, Indiana Position Overview: The Family Ministries Pastor will provide visionary leadership, oversight, and strategic direction for all ministries related to children (birth–5th grade), youth (6th–12th grade), and their families. This role exists to help children, students, and their families grow as disciples of Jesus Christ through age-appropriate teaching, worship opportunities, and through the creating of discipleship pathways for young families. This position requires a relational leader who will prioritize handing ministry off through the building of teams, that develops volunteers, partners with parents, and cultivates a Christ-centered environment that encourages lifelong faith formation. Key Responsibilities: Develop and lead a “Legacy Team” that shares a passion and vision for investing in young families. Cast and implement a cohesive vision for family ministry that aligns with the overall mission and vision of the church to “Create a Better Place to Belong.” Provide leadership and supervision to both the Children’s Ministry and Youth Ministry, including direct oversight of volunteer teams. Create a safe, engaging, and spiritually enriching environment for children and students to grow in their faith. Develop and manage annual ministry goals, calendar, and budget in cooperation with church leadership. Children’s Ministry (Birth–5th Grade):

Oversee curriculum selection, volunteer recruitment/training, and programming for Sunday mornings and midweek events. Ensure compliance with church policies, including child safety protocols. Engage with parents to support spiritual formation at home.

Youth Ministry (6th–12th Grade):

Plan and lead weekly gatherings, small groups, retreats, mission trips, and special events for middle and high school students. Build mentoring relationships with students and equip volunteer leaders to do the same. Teach biblically sound, relevant messages that challenge students to grow in faith and live missionally.

Parent & Family Engagement:

Equip and encourage parents as the primary spiritual influencers in their children's lives. Provide resources, workshops, and events that support whole-family discipleship. Foster a church culture that values intergenerational connection and worship.

Team Development:

Recruit, train, and mentor a team of volunteers to carry out ministry effectively. Lead regular meetings with ministry teams for planning, prayer, and encouragement. Model servant leadership and spiritual maturity.

Qualifications: A committed and growing relationship with Jesus Christ, marked by integrity, humility, and a love for people. Minimum 3–5 years of experience in children’s, youth, or family ministry leadership. Bachelor’s degree in ministry, theology, Christian education, or related field Proven ability to lead teams, communicate clearly, and develop leaders. Agreement with Fairfield Christian Church’s theological values. Excellent organizational and time-management skills. _ Full-time position Salary commensurate with experience and qualifications.
