Job Description The Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at University of Nevada, Las Vegas invites applications for Assistant/Associate/Professor of Head and Neck Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery. Role of the Position The Department of Otolaryngology at Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at University of Nevada, Las Vegas seeks a full-time Head and Neck Microvascular Reconstructive Surgeon, at the Assistant/Associate/Professor level. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing academic Otolaryngology practice and Otolaryngology residency training program. Responsibilities include patient care, research and teaching for Otolaryngology residents, other residencies, and medical students; surgical practice and teaching in both inpatient and outpatient care settings, and clinical and/or basic science research. Must take calls and obtain privileges at several hospitals in the Las Vegas area. Minimum Qualifications MD/DO degree. Must have completed residency from an ACGME accredited program prior to starting employment. Board eligible/certified in Otolaryngology. If board eligible, must obtain board certification within two years of employment. Fellowship training in Head and Neck Microvascular Reconstructive Surgery required. Candidates must be eligible for an unrestricted Nevada medical license, malpractice insurance and must be able to be successfully credentialed by Southern Nevada teaching hospitals and/or clinics. Finalists will be subject to a background check. The candidate’s educational credentials, terminal degree, experience in an academic medical institution or equivalency, research and scholarly activity will be considered in determining the candidate’s recommended rank. The SOM Faculty Appointment, Promotion and Tenure (FAPT) Committee will use the Kirk Kerkorian School of Medicine at UNLV (SOM) promotion criteria to recommend the rank to the Dean of the SOM. Tenure considerations may be given upon hire on a case-by-case basis depending on verified previous credentials, the FAPT recommendation, and the SOM Dean’s recommendation.
