About the role Ready to take the next step in your career and drive impactful decisions in a fast-moving trading environment? As a Senior Risk Analyst in our Americas business at RWE Supply & Trading (RWETA), you’ll be a key partner to our high-visibility trading desk at our New York office.

With a couple of years’ risk or trading experience already under your belt, you will independently oversee market risk and P&L reporting, design and improve risk processes, and serve as a trusted advisor to both the trading desk and senior management. Your role will carry real ownership and influence, ensuring risk excellence and supporting strategic growth in a dynamic, entrepreneurial setting.

You will be a senior member of the US Risk Control team based in Chicago, reporting to the Head of US Risk and Revenue Controlling. Your responsibilities will include:

Deliver accurate, timely, and insightful market risk and P&L reporting to drive daily trading decisions and inform senior leadership

Design, implement, and enhance risk frameworks and controls that scale with the business as it grows

Serve as a key liaison across trading, risk, and senior management, providing clear, actionable risk insights

Support strategic projects such as system upgrades, process automation, and analytics improvements

Collaborate globally and cross-functionally, acting as the connector between front office, support functions, and senior leaders

Mentor junior colleagues and sharing expertise across the risk team to strengthen overall capabilities

Job requirements and experience

Academic background in finance, economics, STEM, or comparable fields

3+ years of experience in risk management in energy, commodities, or financial markets

Exceptional analytical and quantitative skills and strong knowledge of market fundamentals and risk concepts, with proven practical experience

Proven ability to thrive in fast-paced, high-responsibility environments, demonstrating initiative and a solutions-oriented mindset

Proficiency in Excel for data analysis, risk reporting, and scenario modeling

Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage senior stakeholders and convey complex risk topics clearly

Willingness to work in-person on our trading floor in central Manhattan to collaborate closely with traders and risk colleagues

Advantageous, but not essential

Experience with advanced risk and analytics tools

Technical skills in SQL, Python, or Tableau

Prior exposure to global risk frameworks or cross-commodity risk management

Salary range: $130,000 - $190,000
