Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers, Inc. is looking for aFinancial Counselor to provide quality assistance andhelp make animpact with our most underserved populations.
Summary:
The Financial Counselor provides informationto patients regarding the center’s payment requirements, assessestheir eligibility for financial assistance programs, and providesfinancial counseling and guidance as needed. Hours:
This is a full-time position that requires theability to work a flexible schedule. Monday - Friday daytime hourswith at least 1 evening a week. Position Responsibilities/Duties: Review required financial information with patients verbally andin writing: explain the health center’s policy regarding slidingfees and the consequences for not following through with thefinancial assessment Collect compliance data for sliding fee documents; follow up andtracks the patient or responsible party compliance until thenecessary documents have been received in the Practice ManagementSystem (PMS): electronically documents all communication Conduct each patient encounter so as to meet the requirements forthe State Letter of Agreement (LOA), including but not limited toface to face, phone calls and written correspondence. Ensure Presumptive Eligibility applications are completed andsubmitted in timely manner; follow up and track the patient orresponsible party compliance until the patient has been deemedeligible for health insurance coverage Assess patients’ potential eligibility for Medicaid, New JerseyFamily Care and/or Affordable Insurance Coverage, complete Medicaidapplication if applicable, and enrolls patients in the AffordableInsurance Exchange where applicable Provide financial counseling and guidance as needed to patients:assist patients with the enrollment for Prescription Assistance Programs Maintain communication with the County Board of Social Servicesand/or on-site outstation worker to follow up on the status ofpatient applications when deemed eligible for Medicaid, and obtainwritten documentation for the patient’s file if not deemed eligiblefor Medicaid Enter and update collected insurance information in the PMS Experience and Skills:
Position Requirements: Working knowledge of Medicaid/Medicare, insurance verification,and application processing strongly preferred Excellent verbal and written communication skills Valid driver’s license: reliable transportation, ability andwillingness to travel Diploma or certificate from an accredited medical program preferred High school diploma or equivalent Southern Jersey Family Medical Centers is an Equal OpportunityEmployer.
