Why We\'re Hiring We\'re seeking a contract-to-hire Senior Frontend Engineer to join cross-functional, domain-driven teams building Complex\'s next-generation eCommerce and media experiences. You\'ll lead the development of fast, responsive, mobile-first interfaces that connect culture, content, and commerce. Applicants must be willing and able to work on-site in New York, NY. What You\'ll Do

Design, develop, and maintain complex, responsive frontend applications using React, Next.js, and Remix Implement high-quality UI components that scale across our media and e-commerce platforms Partner with product managers and designers to translate business and user requirements into intuitive interfaces Own key areas of the frontend codebase, driving improvements in code organization, performance, and maintainability Lead technical discovery and scoping for frontend features, ensuring alignment with backend and mobile teams Optimize site speed, accessibility, and SEO using best practices in SSR, lazy loading, and Core Web Vitals Contribute to shared frontend libraries, tooling, and design system components to support team consistency Conduct technical reviews, pair programming, and mentorship to grow frontend capabilities across the organization Monitor production issues affecting the UI layer and participate in the on-call rotation for frontend concerns Who You Are

5+ years of professional experience building frontend applications at scale with expert-level proficiency in React, TypeScript, and component-based architecture Strong experience with SSR frameworks (Next.js, Remix) and ability to write accessible, performant, SEO-friendly code with a mobile-first approach Deep understanding of mobile UX principles, browser performance optimization, Core Web Vitals, and cross-device compatibility Demonstrated eye for aesthetics with a proven track record of building interactive, highly engaging user experiences that captivate audiences Experience creating rich animated and parallax storytelling experiences using creative coding libraries (p5.js, Three.js, D3.js, WebGL, Canvas APIs) Ability to rapidly deliver working prototypes with minimal oversight while navigating ambiguity and translating creative briefs into technical solutions Strong collaboration skills with designers, creatives, and strategists, balancing technical constraints with creative vision Preferred: Experience with headless commerce platforms, particularly Hydrogen and Shopify\'s stack Familiarity with AI/ML APIs (OpenAI, Hugging Face) and workflow automation tools (n8n, Zapier) Expertise in frontend observability, performance profiling, and monitoring tools Background in media, publishing, or e-commerce organizations with experience mentoring engineers and establishing frontend best practices at scale $145,000 - $170,000 a year The pay range, which consists of salary and commission, for this position is listed.
