Assists the Director of Environmental Services to obtain quality performance and ensure that set standards are being met. Employees providing direct patient care must demonstrate competencies specific to the population served.Associate’s degree in management or relevant experience.
Experience as a manager in environmental services in a healthcare environment preferredDependent on job/location, Michigan driver's license and insurability may be required.
• Computer experience in word processing and spreadsheets desirable.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals is necessary.
• Ability to speak effectively before groups.
• Appropriate in all interactions with employees, patients, visitors, and customers at every level of the organization.
• Maintains positive working relationships with other departments.
Work which produces levels of mental/visual fatigue which are typical of jobs that perform a wide variety of duties with frequent and significant uncontrollable deadlines. Work may include the operation of and full attention to a personal computer or CRT up to 40 percent of the time.
Involves considerable standing or walking, regular lifting of light-weight objects (i.e., 20 pounds or less) and assisting with heavier tasks such as assisting in lifting and moving patients. Minor straining or fatiguing positions must be assumed, and some fatiguing physical motions are required.
• Participates in the development of short and long term goals and plans for his or her unit or work group.
• Participates in the development and administration of designated parts of an operational budget.
• Communicates approved policies and procedures to subordinates and ensures compliance.
• Recommends changes to policies and procedures when necessary and participates in development and implementation of such changes.
• Hires or recommends the hiring of subordinates. Trains and develops them, evaluates their performance, and (when necessary) recommends their discipline and discharge.
• Maintains records related to unit or work group performance, attendance, expenditures, etc. Prepares related records. May conduct or participate in the analyses of operational problems.
• Schedules employees and their daily work assignments for proper coverage of Bronson Methodist Hospital.
• Conducts orientation of new employees according to department orientation procedures.
• Continually evaluates employee’s performance, documents significant events, and completes written probationary and annual evaluations objectively, and in a timely manner.
• Provides ongoing training and in-services.
• Conducts visual rounds and completes scheduled inspections.
• Provides leadership and guidance to departmental personnel.
• Maintains proficiency in all techniques and equipment used by Environmental Services.
• Maintains records of orientation, attendance, and ongoing training for departmental personnel.
• Represents and participates in committees and task forces as assigned by the Director of Environmental Services and Patient Transport.
• Supports and carries out Bronson Methodist Hospital, and departmental policies and procedures.
