Overview
Texas Township is seeking an experienced and visionary Fire Chief to lead our Fire Department in delivering exceptional fire protection, rescue services, and community safety programs.
As Fire Chief, you will provide strategic leadership, administration, and operational oversight for a full-service fire department. This is a critical leadership position responsible for ensuring the safety and preparedness of our growing community while fostering a professional, team-oriented culture.
Key Responsibilities
Direct all fire department operations, including suppression, EMS, hazardous materials response, and rescue.
Oversee recruitment, retention, training, and performance management of staff (Captains, Lieutenants, Firefighters, Administrative Assistant, and Paid-On-Call staff).
Serve as Incident Commander during major emergencies.
Ensure compliance with MIOSHA, NFPA, FEMA, and ISO standards.
Lead fire prevention, code enforcement, and safety education initiatives.
Develop and manage the department budget, including grants and capital planning.
Answers calls for service in support of day to day operations when necessary.
Collaborate with Township officials, law enforcement, and regional partners on emergency management and disaster planning.

Minimum Qualifications
Education: Associate's degree or 2 years of college (Bachelor's preferred).
Experience: Minimum 10 years in fire service with at least 5 years in command or supervisory roles.
Certifications Required:
Michigan Firefighter II, Fire Officer III, HazMat Ops
Fire Instructor I, FM-123 Driver Training Certification
NREMT EMR (MFR) license
FEMA/NIMS ICS 100, 200, 300, 400, 700, 800
