This is a full-time position with responsibilities for teaching undergraduate and graduate courses within the economics discipline, research, and service to the university, community, and profession. Research and teaching expertise should complement existing faculty expertise and should include applied microeconomics.We welcome applicants from all areas of applied microeconomics. Preference will be given to candidates specializing in Development Economics, Microeconomics of Banking, Environmental Economics and Machine Learning Methods whose teaching and research expertise complement existing faculty strengths.**Job Details:**The successful candidate will be able to teach Microeconomics of Banking, Development Economics, Environmental Economics, and Machine Learning Methods at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Candidates from other areas of applied microeconomics are also encouraged to apply. The successful candidate will pursue an active research agenda within Applied Microeconomics with strong empirical and statistical programming skills in handling large datasets. We also welcome candidates who have experience in applying machine learning and artificial intelligence methods to their research projects to apply to this position. The candidate's research agenda should result in peer-reviewed journal publications and contribute to advancing the department, the university, the profession, and society.
The candidate will also be expected to participate in service activities and embrace the principles of diversity and inclusion as a member of the university community.**Responsibilities:**Full-time teaching responsibilities will include courses in the Microeconomics of Banking, Development Economics, Environmental Economics and Machine Learning Methods. Research expectations include peer-reviewed journal publications. In addition, faculty members serve as advisors/mentors to students and are encouraged to engage students in undergraduate research or other scholarly and creative activities. Service responsibilities include committee service at the departmental, college, and university levels as well as participation in community organizations and the discipline as relevant to the candidate’s expertise and interest. Faculty at UW-W may be required to teach in a variety of formats, including in-person, online and/or in a hybrid format, or courses in the evenings or on weekends. All students, faculty, and staff are expected to ensure their materials are digitally accessible and utilize standard technology platforms supported by UW-Whitewater. Examples include, but are not limited to, Navigate, Canvas, and Microsoft Office applications – including Outlook, which is essential for university email communications and scheduling.## **Key Job Responsibilities:****Department:**The Department of Economics ( ) is one of the seven departments in the AACSB-accredited College of Business and Economics ( ). There are 16 full-time faculty and staff members supporting three degree programs: a Bachelor of Business Administration (BBA), a Bachelor of Arts or Science (BA/BS) from the College of Letters and Sciences, or a Bachelor of Science in Education (BSE) from the College of Education. The curriculum emphasizes applied analysis and empirical methods.The College of Business and Economics at the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater is the largest AACSB-accredited business school in the state of Wisconsin. The College enrolls approximately 3,500 business undergraduate students and offers 11majors. Nearly 1,000 graduate business students are enrolled in a breadth of online and on-campus programs, including Master of Business Administration, Master of Science in Data Analytics, Master of Science in Finance, Master of Science in Marketing, Master of Science in Cybersecurity, and the Doctorate of Business Administration.## **Compensation:**The minimum starting salary for this position will be $85,000, candidates can expect a salary commensurate with the candidate's education, related experience, and qualifications.UW System employees receive an excellent benefit package.
