Our school partnerships present an incredible opportunity to offer students a small group experience that students do not receive within their larger classroom setting. Sylvan @ Schools Tutors create a positive personal learning experience for students by tutoring students using our Sylvan program materials. This role is essential to helping students achieve their educational goals by teaching skills, clarifying concepts, and fostering independent learning. Tutors are deployed to school sites across various school districts in the Greater Los Angeles area. Our tutors provide academic support to K-12 students in reading and math. Job Responsibilities
Deliver guided, scripted curriculum and/or lesson support to groups of up to 10 students. Promote a positive, inclusive, encouraging learning environment. Utilize motivation program to positively impact student attendance and performance. Maintain accurate records of attendance and student progress. Participate in required training and staff meetings. Collaborate with Leads and Directors to ensure smooth program execution. Compensation
$25 – $27/hour Training rate: $18.25/hour (10-16 hours) Tutors can expect to tutor between 1.5 - 3 hours per day, 3 - 4 days per week. Tutors will be assigned to a specific school site. Tutoring will occur between 12:30 PM and 5:30 PM and may vary based upon the needs of the school and their bell schedule. Tutors are required to arrive 30-minutes before their scheduled tutoring to set up. We’re Looking For
Associate’s degree or two years college completion toward 4-year degree required Previous teaching or tutoring experience preferred Strong organizational and time management skills Ability to work independently and as a part of a collaborative team Must have reliable transportation Must obtain a TB clearance and complete a Livescan background check Reports To
