Oceana
Join Oceana and help power our mission to restore and protect the world’s oceans by ensuring every dollar is recorded accurately, reported clearly, and put to work quickly. As our
Senior Revenue Accountant , you’ll be the organization’s go-to expert for revenue owning the full cycle across a global, mission-driven nonprofit and turning complex gifts into timely, actionable insights for leaders. In this role, you’ll oversee revenue recognition in line with US GAAP and ASC 958, maintain schedules for restricted and unrestricted revenue, receivables, deferred and conditional contributions, and translate donor and grant agreements into clean accounting and appropriate releases. You’ll drive a confident month-end close with well-supported journal entries and reconciliations, deliver crisp monthly, quarterly, and annual revenue reports for leadership, auditors, and donors, and keep us audit-ready across global and country office reviews. You’ll also strengthen the way we work documenting and improving processes and controls and supporting systems upgrades and automation while partnering closely with fundraising on gifts from foundations, major donors, donor-advised funds, and planned giving so that donor intent is honored every step of the way. You’ll thrive here if you bring at least five years of progressive accounting experience with a focus on revenue, a strong command of fund accounting and ASC 958, and hands-on practice with grants, restricted contributions, DAFs, and planned giving activity. You’re fluent in Excel and comfortable with accounting and donor systems. Just as important, you communicate clearly, manage competing deadlines with grace, collaborate across cultures and time zones, and care deeply about integrity, accuracy, and our mission. The salary range for this exempt position is $75,000–$90,000 annually. Oceana’s U.S. offices operate on a hybrid schedule: employees work in office Tuesday through Thursday, with the option to work remotely on Monday and Friday by agreement with their supervisor. We welcome candidates who bring new perspectives and lived experiences. Oceana values a diverse workforce and considers all qualified applicants; we actively recruit from a diverse candidate pool.
