Staff Software Engineer

Hybrid: This role is categorized as hybrid. This means the successful candidate is expected to report to office three times per week, at minimum.**The Role**Our team partners closely with vehicle hardware, software, and product teams within the Software and Services business unit to deliver a seamless, secure, and integrated customer experience. We are seeking an experienced Staff Software Engineer who is passionate about building and scaling a platform of backend microservices that power web and mobile products across General Motors. In this role, you will lead engineering efforts through planning, architecture and design, execution, and deployment. As a technical leader, you will not only drive complex engineering initiatives but also mentor and guide less experienced engineers, foster strong cross-team collaboration, and help cultivate a high-performing, inclusive team culture.**Your Skills & Abilities (Required Qualifications)**Bachelor’s degree in computer science or related field, or equivalent professional experience 8+ years of hands-on experience with APIs, Spring Boot, Java 8+ years of experience with source control, release management, and the full software development lifecycle Demonstrated ability to understand complex tech stacks, debug code, and troubleshoot tests **What Will Give You A Competitive Edge (Preferred Qualifications)**Experience with cloud platforms, especially Azure Familiarity with container orchestration systems like Kubernetes Experience in developing event driven systems Experience with Azure Identity Management, including Graph API.
