Student Support Services Counselor

position. This is a full-time, 12-month, restricted professional faculty appointment with an excellent benefits package. The anticipated salary will be no less than $68,293, commensurate with education and experience. The College desires candidates with a commitment to the community college mission and experience working in a diverse student population, including adult learners and at-risk students. The successful candidate will be committed to academic excellence, continuous improvement through professional development, and creating a collegial environment of civility, collaboration, and open communication. The Student Support Services (SSS) Program is a federal TRiO Program funded through the U.S. Department of Education to provide academic, career, and financial counseling to eligible students and to encourage them to pursue their post-secondary education. Reporting to the Director of TRiO Programs, the Student Support Services (SSS) Counselor plays a vital role in supporting the academic, personal, and professional success of program participants. This position provides individualized advising, counseling, and guidance to students to help them navigate barriers to higher education. Responsibilities include recruiting eligible program participants, assisting students with academic planning, financial aid and scholarship guidance, transfer preparation, and career exploration, as well as providing personal support to encourage persistence and graduation. Responsibilities and Requirements

The SSS Counselor also develops and facilitates workshops, coordinates cultural and educational activities, maintains accurate student records, and ensures compliance with federal TRiO program regulations. The incumbent must be able to operate and utilize technology to include the use of Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, online assessments, Google docs, and electronic filing systems. Qualifications

Master’s degree in education, counseling, or relevant field. Experience in advising and counseling. Demonstrated ability to develop relationships with diverse populations. Experience in the use of technology, including Microsoft Office Suite, Zoom, and Google docs. Excellent verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated ability to adhere to federal, state, and institutional regulations. Additional Considerations

Experience in a higher education setting. Experience in advising and curricular counseling in education. Experience in administering and interpreting online inventories and assessments. Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional regulations.
