What You Will Do at Aptar Pharma: The primary mission of the EHS Specialist is to plan, implement, and enforce the organization’s Environmental, Health, and Safety (EHS) policies and procedures. Their main goal is to create a safe and healthy workplace for people and the planet. They oversee workplace safety programs, train staff on safety procedures, and manage the organization’s Environmental Management System. They also establish protocols for handling natural disasters with environmental impacts. What Aptar Pharma Is Looking For: Primary Duties and Responsibilities: Leadership & Strategy:
Provide strategic direction for EHS initiatives, fostering a proactive safety culture. Policy Development:
Design and implement EHS policies, procedures, and training programs. Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure adherence to OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulations. Risk Assessment:
Conduct audits, inspections, and hazard assessments to identify and mitigate risks. Incident Management:
Lead investigations, root cause analysis, and corrective action planning. Training & Communication:
Develop and deliver safety training programs for employees and management. Environmental Stewardship:
Oversee waste management, sustainability initiatives, and environmental impact reduction. Emergency Preparedness:
Coordinate emergency response plans and drills. Continuous Improvement:
Monitor industry trends and implement best practices to enhance EHS performance. Participation:
Organize Safety and Green Teams, Monthly Meetings, Earth Day Events. Reporting:
Prepare and submit site regulator reports, ISO 14001 compliance documentation, and manage waste stream calculations. Audits:
Prepare for and participate in site environmental audits. Record Keeping:
Use the Corporate EHStar software dashboard for incident management and environmental reporting. Metrics:
Establish and communicate program metrics related to injuries and incidents. Operational Processes:
Implement and maintain EHS operational procedures to ensure compliance and awareness. Inspections & Audits:
Conduct oversight inspections of operations and subcontractors. Waste Management:
Implement hazardous and environmental waste management programs. Corrective Actions:
Track actions taken in response to audits and inspections. Guidance & Compliance:
Provide guidance to achieve safety and quality standards. Regulatory Updates:
Keep abreast of regulatory changes and disseminate safety information. Training:
Provide safety training and knowledge transfer to staff. Environmental Programs:
Monitor waste control, Tier II reporting, water treatment, and waste reduction efforts. Training Needs:
Identify and develop training materials. Certifications:
Maintain OSHA 30-hour certification. Other Duties:
Perform additional qualified duties as assigned. What you will bring on the journey: Education: A relevant degree in EHS, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering or related field. Experience: Minimum 5 years’ experience in a production environment. Certifications: OSHA, ISO 14001, CSP, CIH, or others preferred. Detail-oriented, rigorous, analytical, reactive, and good interpersonal skills. Excellent computer skills with SAP and MS Office. Independent, self-motivated. Skills/Abilities: Strong communication skills for presentations and training. Leadership and diplomacy. Ability to work well in teams and build relationships. Persuasive communication and presentation skills. Creative problem-solving in complex situations. Ability to communicate with all levels including executives. Travel occasionally.
