The Sr Staff, CMDB Architect

will play a critical role in the Service and Platform Architecture team, focusing on the design, architectural principles, and optimization of the Configuration Management Database (CMDB) and its integration with the Asset Management Database (AMDB) within the ServiceNow platform. This role ensures the integrity, scalability, and strategic alignment of CMDB and IT Asset Management (ITAM) architectures with enterprise ITSM, ITOM, and ITAM initiatives. The position will be based in Atlanta and will report directly to the Senior Director of Platform Architecture. As a senior technical leader, the CMDB Architect will collaborate across asset config and configuration management, engineering, architecture, product, and service management teams to define best-in-class CMDB and AMDB solutions. This role requires deep expertise in ServiceNow’s CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), as well as a strong understanding of how configuration and asset data underpin enterprise service management capabilities. Your Role Accountabilities

Note: The following responsibilities are organized by area and percentage focus where shown in the original description. Architecture & Strategy (30%)

Craft the architectural design and advise on the strategic roadmap for CMDB and AMDB within the ServiceNow platform. Define scalable, sustainable, and compliant CMDB/ITAM architectures aligned with enterprise ITSM/ITOM/ITAM strategies. Serve as a subject matter expert on the Common Service Data Model (CSDM), ensuring alignment with service mapping and business service modeling. Advise on the integration of CMDB with other enterprise systems and data sources to ensure a unified configuration and asset management ecosystem. Data Governance & Quality (25%)

Craft and advise on a comprehensive data dictionary for CMDB and AMDB, detailing field purposes, ownership, and maintenance processes. Architect and advise on data quality initiatives, including discovery, reconciliation, normalization, and lifecycle management of configuration items (CIs). Architect controls and audit mechanisms to ensure data accuracy, completeness, and compliance with internal and external standards. Solution Design & Implementation (25%)

Provide architectural oversight and guidance for the implementation and optimization of ServiceNow Discovery, Service Mapping, and third-party integrations. Design and propose CMDB and AMDB solutions that support ITSM, ITOM, and ITAM processes, ensuring alignment with business and operational needs. Collaborate with engineering and product teams to ensure technical feasibility and operational sustainability of CMDB-related solutions. Stakeholder Collaboration & Enablement (20%)

Partner with Service Management Engineering, Service Transformation, Product Management, and other architecture teams to align CMDB/AMDB capabilities with business roadmaps. Act as a trusted advisor to stakeholders, translating complex architectural concepts into actionable guidance. Support training and enablement efforts to promote CMDB/AMDB adoption and understanding across the organization. Qualifications & Experiences

8+ years of experience in IT architecture, with at least 5 years focused on CMDB, ITAM, or ITOM within the ServiceNow ecosystem. Deep expertise in ServiceNow CMDB, Discovery, Service Mapping, and CSDM. Proven experience designing and implementing enterprise-scale CMDB and ITAM solutions. Strong understanding of ITIL practices, particularly Configuration Management, Asset Management, and Service Management. Demonstrated ability to collaborate in cross-functional initiatives. Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field (Master’s preferred). ServiceNow Certified System Administrator and Certified Implementation Specialist (CIS) in CMDB, Discovery, or ITAM preferred. Not Required but preferred experience: ITIL v4 certification (Managing Professional or Strategic Leader). Experience with data governance frameworks and tools. Familiarity with enterprise architecture frameworks (e.g., TOGAF). Experience in large-scale, global enterprise environments. How We Get Things Done
