Reporting to the Controller, the
Staff Accountant/Billing & Accounts Receivable
will be responsible for the following: Responsible for all student billing functions, including annual tuition, trips, books, events, exams, ID cards and after school activities. Prepares billing statements on annual, quarterly and monthly billing cycles or as needed; corresponds appropriately with parents and families to advise of charges. Acts as the school liaison with families and SMART Tuition. Maintains student billing records within a confidential and organized filing system. Responsible for generating invoices and managing the collection of payments for income sources outside of tuition, such as rental fees and vendor agreements, requiring a focus on accurate billing practices and timely collections across diverse revenue streams. Partners with other departments to ensure revenue is allocated correctly across funds. Live the school’s mission and core values of respect, integrity, service, excellence, and responsibility. Qualifications -
The following experience, skills & knowledge are required and/or preferred: High School Diploma required; Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance preferred. Minimum of four (4) years’ experience in general accounting required, preferably in a not-for-profit and/or independent school environment. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational and analytical skills. Experience with Blackbaud products, Financial Edge NXT, Smart Tuition, etc. preferred. Proficient with Word, Excel and the Google drive platform. A successful track record of working effectively with a wide range of constituencies including parents, students and educators. Compensation and Benefits This is a 12-month full-time exempt position available immediately. Compensation is highly competitive and commensurate with experience and includes a comprehensive benefits package. At Out-of-Door, we value a diverse workforce.
