Automation and Control Systems Applications Developer / Programmer - (186201)

In the role of Automation and Control Systems Applications Developer / Programmer, we'll count on you to:
Participate in the design of complex supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA) systems.
Assist with selection and specification of process instrumentation, control panels, and network equipment.
Assist with development of biddable and technically accurate instrumentation and control system construction documents.
Assist with the development of software applications for automation such as programmable logic controller (PLC) and human machine interface (HMI).
Assist with system testing and commissioning activities.
Perform routine engineering assignments requiring application of standard techniques and procedures.
Complete projects with clear, specified objectives and limited variables.
Execute assigned tasks within scope, budget, and schedule.
Work independently on small projects or assist more-senior engineers on larger projects.
Give direction to clerical and technical personnel.
Perform other duties as needed.
The applications programmer will be responsible for coordination of the control system with the Design team, construction team, and Client. The individual must have strong communication skills, an ability to work effectively within a team, technical aptitude, and a problem-solving mindset. This position will require a strong desire to learn, grow, and continually take on new challenges. The ideal candidate will have a fundamental understanding of programming and standard engineering practices. In addition, this candidate would be proficient in using Microsoft Office to produce detail-oriented reports. Knowledge of controls and automation principles and electrical circuits is desired.
Preferred Qualifications
Master's degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
Engineer in Training (EIT) certificate. Candidates without their EIT will be placed in a Designer/Coordinator job code and will be expected to obtain their EIT certification for career progression
Knowledgeable of Allen-Bradley, Modicon, Wonderware and/or Interlution.
Knowledge of controls and automation principles and electrical circuits.
Excellent communication, leadership and planning skills, and ability to thrive in a team environment.
Strong skills in preparing client presentations, project memoranda, and reports
Strong desire to learn, grow, and continually take on new challenges
Experience working in the water and wastewater facilities, Oil Gas industry, Power generation and Distribution, Mining and other industrial facilities is a plus
Involved in extracurricular activities and/or engineering societies, such as IEEE or ISA
Preference given to local candidates
Required Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related field
Self-motivated, able to work independently and with a project team to completion of a task
May need to travel
