The National Radio Astronomy Observatory (NRAO) is a prestigious research facility that plays a vital role in the study of the universe. The Observatory is an exciting and dynamic organization that is pushing the boundaries of our understanding of the universe. The Observatory operates a variety of radio telescopes that span the globe, including the Green Bank Telescope in West Virginia. We have an exciting and rewarding employment opportunity for a Human Resources Generalist at our Green Bank, WV facility, the Green Bank Observatory (GBO), to provide internal support and partnership to GBO managers and employees to deliver a full range of human resources support. The HR Generalist will serve as an administrator for several critical human resources functions and workforce management programs, including recruiting, employee relations, benefits, performance management, training and development, employee engagement, leave management, and employee records. Responsibilities
Lead talent acquisition and recruitment processes Conduct employee onboarding and support training & development initiatives Provide support to employees in various HR-related topics such as leaves, benefits and compensation Address and facilitate resolution of employee relations issues Assist in coordinating retirement programs for retiree medical eligible staff as needed Monitor staff morale and engagement Support work culture and employee engagement initiatives Promote HR programs to create an efficient and mutually respectful workplace Assist in development and implementation of human resource policies Undertake tasks around performance management Maintain employee files and records in electronic and paper forms Ensure compliance with labor regulations Requirements
You have a Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience You have at least three (3) years of relevant experience Strong understanding of general human resources policies and procedures Working knowledge of employment/labor laws Working knowledge of MS Office; HRIS systems Excellent communication and people skills Aptitude in problem-solving Desire to work as a team with a results driven approach Additional HR training / certification preferred What We Offer
