Workers Compensation Attorney

Job Overview: A respected law firm is seeking a skilled attorney to join their St. Louis, MO office, specializing in workers' compensation defense. The ideal candidate will bring 5+ years of experience defending workers' compensation cases, with a strong ability to manage complex cases, conduct research, and handle hearings and depositions. Duties: Review and analyze medical evidence and records Take depositions from claimants, physicians, medical experts, and other involved parties Conduct thorough discovery processes Perform legal research to support case strategies Stay updated on changes in relevant laws and regulations Draft pleadings, findings of fact, motions, briefs, opinions, and other necessary legal documents Represent clients in workers' compensation hearings, trials, mediations, arbitrations, and other proceedings before administrative law judges Communicate with claims representatives to address case developments Monitor loss run reports for trends and alert management to potential concerns Assist with investigating accidents and identifying potential risks Manage workers' compensation costs effectively to minimize liability Prepare and submit reports for management review Coordinate and attend claims reviews Negotiate settlements on behalf of employers or insurance companies Perform other related duties as needed Requirements: Juris Doctor (J.D.) and proof of admission to the Illinois Bar or Missouri Bar; passing the Bar in other Midwest states is an advantage A minimum of 5 years of experience in workers’ compensation defense Extensive knowledge of legal principles, local, state, and federal laws, and regulations Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook; familiarity with Perfect Law legal software is a plus High regard for confidentiality and ethical standards Education: Juris Doctor (J.D.)
