Under the direction of the Human Resources Director or the Operations Manager, the Payroll Administrator is responsible for managing the payroll processing system for the Diocese of Tucson and affiliated organizations. This includes providing or facilitating education on the processing of payroll in the different locations within the Diocese of Tucson, and providing HR support to all locations as necessary. The Employee shall be a minister of the Gospel and Catholic Teaching behaviorally while at work and in his/her personal life, in keeping with the call to live worthy of that call (Eph. 4:1). Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Support the Diocese of Tucson’s spiritual and pastoral mission. Abide by Catholic principles in professional and private life and demonstrate adherence to Catholic morals and principles. Manage payroll processes in the Diocese of Tucson and Affiliated Organizations; ensure timely processing and proper training of processors. Ensure data integrity; coordinate with location payroll processors to comply with diocesan and legal requirements. Maintain payroll information at all locations in compliance with legal requirements. Provide guidance and assistance to payroll processors as necessary. Keep management informed of processing delays or potential issues. Establish and maintain effective communications with payroll processors; answer inquiries regarding pay. Maintain confidentiality on all HR and payroll matters. Type reports, documents, and other correspondence as necessary. Prepare payroll processing as needed. Conduct New Hire Orientation and Payroll On-Boarding as needed. Provide administrative support to the HR department as necessary. Perform other duties as assigned. Physical/Mental Requirements

Requires coordination and manual dexterity; normal mental and visual ability; ability to lift as required in a normal office environment. Required Activities

Walking; sitting; standing; stooping; reaching; talking; handling; hearing; carrying; and keyboarding. Basic Qualifications

Working knowledge of and commitment to the mission of fostering lay leadership in the Catholic Church; must be a practicing Roman Catholic in full communion with the Church. Excellent communications skills, verbal and written; strong interpersonal skills. Courteous demeanor with colleagues and the public. Self-starter, well organized; ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines. Ability to maintain confidentiality. Ability to work collaboratively in a team; punctuality; local travel as required; weekend and overtime may be required. Proficiency in word processing, databases, and spreadsheets; minimum typing skill of 50 wpm. Professional bearing; clean and neat appearance. Ability to pass a background, criminal history, and credit history check. Education and Experience

Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in human resources, business, or public administration with at least two years’ payroll experience; or an associate degree with at least four years’ payroll experience; or six years’ payroll experience. Other Skills and Abilities

Bi-lingual (English/Spanish) preferred. Covenants of Employment
