Location: Salt Lake City, UT Salary: $120,000 - $135,000 + 7% Bonus & Benefits Benefits: Medical, Dental, Vision, Life Insurance, 401k w/match, PTO Job Type: Full-Time Typical hours: 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM (flexible) Start Date: ASAP Sponsorship not available Relocation Assistance Available Description Our client in the oil and gas industry is looking for an Operations Engineer to add to their team in Salt Lake City, UT. You will be responsible for assisting in day-to-day refinery operations to achieve both long and short-term goals in the process units, tank farm, and product quality control. You will work closely with the Operations Manager & Supervisor to ensure the safe, efficient, and reliable performance of the refinery’s processes. You will be responsible for troubleshooting issues, optimizing processes, and supporting key initiatives such as Process Safety Management (PSM). This position combines fieldwork, problem-solving, and process optimization. To be successful in this role, you must be an experienced operations or process engineer familiar with the operations of oil refining or chemical plants. This role is pivotal to achieving the company’s operational goals and maintaining high safety standards and is an excellent fit for engineers looking to expand their skill sets across multiple refinery units. Responsibilities Support daily refinery operations to meet production goals Collaborate with operators and supervisors to resolve issues Monitor and optimize refinery processes for safety and efficiency Ensure compliance with EPA and ASTM standards for gasoline blends Assist in developing work scope for turnarounds and maintenance Create and update operating procedures and manuals Provide on-call support one weekend per month Participate in safety initiatives, including PSM and incident investigations Develop and track KPIs for environmental and operational performance Assist with performance testing and continuous process improvements Qualifications Bachelors in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering required 3+ years of operations or process engineering experience required 3+ years of Refinery or Chemical plant operations experience required Process troubleshooting and optimization experience required Process Safety Management (PSM) experience required
