Job Description - Legal Assistant Manager (2500012B)

Position Summary Corporate Legal Assistants work under the supervision of attorneys to provide legal services to clients. Responsibilities vary by practice group. They may work with other personnel across the Firm to deliver services and may be asked to perform other duties as required.

Duties and Accountabilities

Acquire an understanding of the mechanics of corporate representation, including corporate housekeeping and transactional matters, through training and on-the-job experience.

Familiarize with the legal and factual issues of matters.

Utilize resources to perform factual and legal research.

Organize, maintain and distribute files/documents as requested.

Monitor and organize virtual and physical datarooms and contents.

Coordinate closings and post-closing aspects of transactions, including logistics of closings, preparing closing sets, and overseeing electronic Bible creation.

Contact government agencies and perform online research to obtain publicly available information.

Proofread and blackline documents, including familiarity with Workshare software.

Create databases, charts, graphs, tables for data analysis and prepare written memoranda.

Process invoices related to vendor services contracted for a client or attorney.

Prepare daily time entries and submit weekly overtime reports.

Partner with the legal assistant manager and/or director of legal assistants to formulate yearly goals and develop a plan of action to achieve them.

Utilize firm technology resources to enhance work product delivered to clients.

Qualifications

Four-year degree with a GPA of 3.5 or higher.

Strong academic background and clear writing skills.

Related work experience in a corporate or law firm environment.

Good organizational skills and knowledge of word processing and other software as needed.

Ability to follow through on projects, work under pressure and with diverse personalities.

Willingness and ability to work overtime and long hours.

Excellent professional references, good judgment and high ethical standards.

Ability to travel as needed and familiarity with technology.

Location and Reporting

This role reports to our DC or Houston office.

Salary range for Washington D.C. market: 120,000 - 140,000 USD yearly. Salary range in other markets will vary.
