The Automation Engineer will be responsible for implementing improvements to automated processes and equipment requested by operations and supporting capital projects from the design phase to completion. Key Responsibilities:
Implement and document changes for improvement and consistency of automated processes and equipment, including change management, vendor support for electrical and programming upgrades, and Wonderware/HMI ownership. Address losses (raw material, product, rejects) and develop operating cost savings. Design systems, conduct cost value analysis, create equipment design specifications, and supervise/manage outside consulting engineering firms and contractors involved in optimization projects. Adapt to shifting priorities in a fast-paced work environment. Travel as required. less than 10 percent Physical Requirements:
Pass a pre-employment physical exam. Use of a respirator and passing the associated fit test may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs, sometimes repeatedly. Regular walking and standing for long periods (up to 11 hours a day) on various surfaces. Crouching, stepping over, crawling under, bending, twisting, climbing, and reaching above head and shoulders repeatedly throughout the day. Working Conditions:
Frequent exposure to loud and constant noise. Work in non-environmentally conditioned spaces, leading to extreme hot and cold conditions. Operate in a complex environment with high situational awareness. Work overtime as needed, including 12-hour days, weekends, and holidays. Tolerate summer/winter temperature conditions and hot and cold room environments. Promote a team-oriented and “Safety First” environment. Experience and Skills Required:
Packaging/Utilities specific knowledge and experience is highly desired. 10+ years combined experience in project engineering and plant engineering in a food or beverage manufacturing environment. Comprehensive understanding and optimization of PLC controls (Allen Bradley highly preferred). Experience in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. Experience with operating and maintenance employee training procedures. Experience with Employee Engagement and High-Performance Workplace environments.
