POSITION SUMMARY: Manages the school age child care program and day camps at assigned locations. Hires, trains, and supervises the staff team. GENERAL WORK SCHEDULE: 40 hours per week. Must be available to work between 7:00 am – 6:00 pm, Monday – Friday. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Ensures programs and services meet community needs, including supervising existing program activities, establishing new program activities, and expanding the program as needed. Assists in marketing and distributing program information. Manages school age child care and day camp program operations, including developing and monitoring the department budget to meet fiscal objectives; maintains participant records; monitors program effectiveness and participation; and responds to feedback. Recruits, hires, onboard, trains, and develops program staff. Publishes and maintains staff schedules to ensure all shifts are filled. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Ensures staff certifications and training records are current and complete. Models relationship-building in all interactions; develops and maintains collaborative relationships with staff, participants, school administration, OCFS registrars, and community organizations to maximize impact and drive outcomes; maintains clear communication. Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to the department. Understands and complies with OCFS licensing requirements. Ensures safety procedures are followed. Maintains cleanliness of the program area, provides supplies, and upkeeps equipment. Organizes or participates in YMCA activities such as committees, special events, and fundraising. Serves as a member of the YMCA management team and supports overall YMCA objectives. Performs other duties as assigned. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in a related field or equivalent experience. One to two years of related experience, preferably in a supervisory capacity. Meets School Age Child Care Director licensing requirements per NYS OCFS: Associate’s Degree in a child care/development related field
or
two years of college with eighteen credit hours in a childcare/development related field. Two years of direct experience working with children under 13, including at least one year in a supervisory role. Ability to establish and maintain positive relationships and communicate effectively. Ability to use good judgment and solve complex problems.
