Overview

Our client is seeking a Senior Mechatronics Engineer to lead the design, development, and delivery of innovative electro-mechanical robotic systems. You’ll own the mechanical subsystem design across a multidisciplinary team, contributing to hardware that will be deployed and scaled across real-world environments. This is a hands-on, high-autonomy role in a fast-paced startup environment. The ideal candidate thrives in ambiguity, can pivot quickly, and brings a product-first mindset to engineering challenges. Responsibilities

Lead mechanical and mechatronic system design from concept to production for robotic tire-changing platforms.

Design and specify multi-axis actuators, gear drives, motors, sensors, and related components.

Develop pneumatic and hydraulic circuit designs, including actuation systems, solenoids, and regulators.

Perform finite element analysis (FEA) for structural, fatigue, and dynamic loads.

Build and maintain CAD models and engineering documentation (GD&T, BOMs, test procedures).

Create test plans and validate subsystems with structured data collection and analysis.

Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams (software, controls, electrical) to integrate full-system functionality.

Contribute to engineering processes such as lifecycle management, design reviews, and change control.

Support installation, troubleshooting, and field deployments as needed.

Qualifications

BS in Mechanical Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.

10+ years of professional experience in robotics, automation, or electro-mechanical system development.

Proven track record in designing and delivering industrial robotic systems at scale.

Deep experience with actuators, motors, gearing, sensors, and real-world integration.

Proficient in 3D CAD (preferably OnShape or SolidWorks), with strong GD&T skills (ASME Y14.5).

Skilled in FEA tools for static, dynamic, and fatigue analysis.

Hands-on experience with pneumatics and hydraulics in robotic or automation applications.

Strong documentation and communication skills; able to write clear procedures, test plans, and engineering reports.

Preferred Qualifications

MS or PhD in Mechanical Engineering.

Expertise in system dynamics, vibration analysis, or industrial tooling design.

Experience with industrial control systems.

Background in simulation tools, free body diagrams, and electro-mechanical equations.

Familiarity with engineering documentation systems (CAD vaults, BOMs, part numbering).

Python or MATLAB proficiency for test automation or data analysis.

The Offer

Competitive compensation and equity package.

Medical, dental, and vision coverage.

PTO and flexible time-off policies.

A dynamic, collaborative team solving complex problems in robotics.

A high-ownership culture with significant autonomy and room for technical leadership.
