Overview
Job description for an engineering role with responsibilities in data analysis, project scope development, design reviews, equipment selection, and coordination across disciplines. Requires independent work, client interaction, and adherence to codes and standards. Responsibilities
Researches and analyzes data such as client design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application. Work with clients to develop a project’s scope of work, estimates, and/or schedules. Review and approve project drawings, standards and specifications. Develop major equipment and material selection, and construction specifications. Use computer assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform engineering tasks. Ensure that all assigned activities and operations comply with applicable codes, regulations and laws. Provide support during fabrication and installation phases to ensure engineering documents are followed. Coordinate activities with other project disciplines involved in fabrication, operation, application, and installation or repair of various materials, products or systems. Provide technical direction, support and information to other engineers, designers and drafters. Demonstrate professional skills in structuring assigned activities, creativity, teamwork, communications, operational efficiencies, handling of client needs, decision making, and problem solving. Perform other duties pertinent to the department or unit’s success as assigned. This position has no supervisory responsibilities. Qualifications
Bachelor of Science in Engineering from an accredited institution required. Alaska PE license required. Minimum five (5) years engineering experience in the oil and gas industry required. Minimum two (2) years off-pad pipeline engineering experience. Engineering experience for projects on the North Slope – Alaska required. Proficiency in Bentley AutoPIPE or other piping stress analysis software preferred. Other Experience
Responsible engineering experience including arctic pipeline, process piping, and/or HVAC system work. Familiarity with ASME B31.3, B31.4, B31.8 piping codes and material specifications, and ASHRAE standards. Must be able to work independently and with project team. Language Skills
Ability to read, analyze and interpret common scientific and technical journals. Ability to respond to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, or business community. Ability to present information to management and clients. Mathematical Skills
Apply calculus, algebra and statistical concepts. Work with limits, equations and proofs as needed for project work. Reasoning Ability
Apply logical thinking to problems; interpret instructions; handle abstract and concrete variables; work with various forms of communication. Computer Skills
Working knowledge of MS Word, Excel, Outlook and discipline-specific design or analysis software as required. Certificates and Licenses
