Anesthesiology Faculty Physician - Obstetrics

About the Appointment:
This position is a full-time board certified/eligible Obstetric Anesthesiologist at the Assistant or Associate Professor rank on an academic or master clinician track. It includes clinical duties at the University of Minnesota Medical Center in Minneapolis, MN, and is associated with a Level IV NICU at University of Minnesota Masonic Children's Hospital.
Division focuses on a Family Centered Cesarean Model. Approximately 2500 deliveries per year, many of which are high risk.
Clinical services in inpatient and ambulatory settings, teaching of medical students and residents, and coverage of general OR cases.
Academic faculty are expected to be active in national organizations and foster an academic environment for medical students, residents, and faculty.
Proven track record in teaching and scholarly productivity in one or more specialty areas in anesthesiology is required.
Work with high quality residents during the week.
12-hour in-house call duty schedule.

About the Division: The Obstetric Division provides analgesia for labor and delivery, anesthesia for operative Cesarean sections, and pain management for postoperative deliveries. Practices include continuous epidural infusions, patient-controlled epidural analgesia, intrathecal analgesia for labor and delivery, as well as epidural, spinal, and combined spinal-epidural anesthesia for operative deliveries. Transversus Abdominis Plane blocks are routinely provided for postoperative analgesia following cesarean deliveries.
The Division is involved in clinical research in areas such as the use of liposomal encapsulated local anesthetics for long-lasting pain relief and is committed to patient-oriented, family-centric care to optimize childbirth experiences.
Our practitioners are guided by three tenets: provide pain relief to the best of our ability, conduct safe and innovative care, and show sincere compassion for patients.
Qualifications:
Graduate of an accredited ACGME Anesthesiology residency and/or fellowship training program.
Board eligible/certified with the American Board of Anesthesiology.
Licensed or able to obtain Minnesota Board of Medical Practice Licensure.
Ability to obtain/maintain DEA certification in the State of Minnesota.
Meet threshold criteria/qualifications for Credentialing and Privileges.
Ability to receive work authorization in the United States from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and maintain legal status according to the requirements of VISA category while in the United States.
SOAP member.
Experience with TAP blocks.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Outstanding collaboration abilities with partners and staff.
Understands and places importance on patient care/service.
Detail oriented and self-motivated.
Education focused and a creative problem-solver.
Pay and Benefits: This role is dually employed by University of Minnesota Physicians and the University of Minnesota. Total salary is market competitive and based on AAMC salary benchmarks. Clinical salary, aligned with clinical effort, is provided through M Physicians. Total annual compensation ranges from $420,000 to $575,000, inclusive of base pay plus expected incentive pay commensurate with experience and qualifications. The salary from the University is dependent upon the academic effort of the person hired.
