Job Location CARROLLTON Employee Type FT Shift Day Educational Qualification - Experience - Job Description Job Summary Manages the routine activities of the laboratory or a laboratory section to ensure staffing adequacy, timely testing, recording, and reporting in accordance with quality standards. Assists with staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, payroll, etc. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Manages the work of assigned staff involved in pre-analytical, analytical, and post-analytical testing phases, performing delegated functions as defined by the facility CLIA Director. Prepares schedules, coordinates job assignments, and monitors personnel. Assists in hiring, orientation, training, evaluations, disciplinary actions, and terminations. Develops policies and procedures related to laboratory operations, staffing, and scheduling. Communicates issues or concerns to department leaders and upper management promptly. Monitors inventory to ensure necessary supplies are available in proper quantities. Implements quality assurance programs and maintains compliance records for regulatory agencies. Reviews quality control, proficiency testing, instrument maintenance, and related records, addressing any corrective actions. Prepares and monitors the annual budget. Manager Responsibilities Oversees the work of subordinates engaged in various testing phases, performing delegated functions as per the CLIA Director's directives. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience; Associate's Degree preferred. Medical Technology/Sciences background. 4+ years of relevant experience. Certifications: ASCP (MT/CLS/MLS/CG/CT/DLM), AMT (MT/CLS/MLS), HEW (MT/CLS/MLS), AAB (MT/CLS/MLS), ABHI (CHT/CHS), or ASCP Scientist/Specialist (BB, C, H, M, MB, SBB, SC, SH, SM). Working Conditions Physical: Standing/walking continuously; lifting moderate weight (20-50 lbs.). Environment: Indoor with potential exposure to dust, fumes, temperature variations, and noise. Respiratory: May involve exposure to aerosolized particles or infectious droplets; fit testing and respiratory protection required. Hazards: Potential exposure to bloodborne pathogens and OSHA regulated substances.
