The Talent Acquisition Specialist/HR Generalist is responsible for the full cycle recruiting process to secure qualified talent for corporate, project management, and skilled trades positions. This role involves developing recruitment strategies, building strong candidate pipelines, and performing a range of HR generalist duties. The ideal candidate has experience recruiting for the construction industry and is adept at fostering a positive candidate experience from initial contact through onboarding. Key responsibilities
Recruiting and talent acquisition Source and identify top talent
for all roles, from field laborers and skilled trades to project managers, estimators, and corporate staff. Manage the full recruitment lifecycle , including writing and posting job descriptions, sourcing candidates, screening resumes, and conducting interviews. Build and maintain robust talent pipelines
for current and future hiring needs, leveraging creative sourcing techniques, including job boards, social media, industry networks, and trade schools. Collaborate with hiring managers
to define role requirements and develop hiring strategies that align with business needs and project timelines. Coordinate campus recruiting activities
and manage internship or co-op programs with local colleges and vocational schools. Organize and attend job fairs
and other recruitment events to promote the company's employer brand. Negotiate and extend job offers
to candidates, manage the pre-employment screening process (background checks, drug screens), and coordinate new hire paperwork. Track and analyze recruitment metrics , such as time-to-fill, source effectiveness, and offer-to-acceptance ratio, to identify areas for improvement. HR generalist duties
Assist with the onboarding and offboarding process
for all employees to ensure a smooth and efficient transition. Support employee relations activities , including serving as a point of contact for employee questions and helping to resolve workplace issues. Assist in the administration of employee benefits
and ensure compliance with federal and state labor laws and regulations. Maintain accurate and confidential employee records
within the Human Resources Information System (HRIS) and Applicant Tracking System (ATS). Facilitate training and development initiatives
for employees, including safety training and new technology rollouts. Conduct regular visits to active construction sites
to connect with field employees and superintendents, fostering a positive working relationship. Qualifications and skills
Bachelor's degree in Human Resources,
Business Administration, or a related field preferred; or equivalent combination of experience. Minimum of 2-3 years of recruiting experience , with a focus on the commercial construction industry strongly preferred. In-depth knowledge of construction roles,
project lifecycles, and industry-specific talent needs preferred. Proficiency with applicant tracking systems (ATS)
and online sourcing tools like LinkedIn Recruiter. Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills,
with the ability to build rapport with candidates and internal stakeholders. Proven ability to manage multiple priorities
with tight deadlines. Strong organizational skills,
with meticulous attention to detail. Knowledge of HR policies, employment laws,
and regulatory compliance. Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
for communicating with a diverse workforce.
