South City Christian was initially birthed in 1959 but is entering a phase of rebirth in 2025. Located in SW Louisiana, Lake Charles is located about 25 miles east of the Texas border, about two hours to Houston and about two and half to Baton Rouge, three hours plus to New Orleans. Our main industry is refining and exporting natural gas and oil. Our church building was severely damaged by Hurricane Laura on the heals of the Covid Pandemic in August of 2020 and then again in October of 2020 (six weeks later). Because of insurance delays, we were not able to meet in our auditorium again until January of 2024. We are essentially a church replant with a vision for launching other new churches in our region. The community is moving forward economically from our tragedies. South City Christian is located only three blocks from McNeese State University. The congregation agreed to take the necessary steps to relaunch ourselves and to focus ourselves on Helping People Find and Follow Jesus.

We are looking for a Gen Z Pastor with the heart of a church planter to focus on Evangelism and Discipleship . Since this a new position for us, the candidate has the opportunity to carve out their own path. This person will be responsible for doing whatever they can to Help People (especially young adults) Find and Follow Jesus. They must adhere to basic Restoration Movement beliefs and practices. They also need to have some tech abilities, be creative, energetic, ready to take on a challenge, have a taste for Cajun cookin', love people and really love Jesus.
