Oklahoma City, OK **Schedule:** Full-time **Position Summary:**VASU is responsible for, among other things, providing direct services, resources, and referrals to victims of crime; ensuring grant awards administered by the OAG are property expended; certifying and monitoring domestic violence/sexual assault programs and batterers intervention programs; and facilitating trainings for law enforcement agencies, certified programs, and other stakeholders to help better assist victims. VASU’s Assistant Attorney General provides counsel to the unit’s Director and its staff.**Essential Functions:*** Ensure all legal requirements of VASU’s programs and other responsibilities and tasks are met.* Review and provide guidance to the OAG on administrative rules, legislation, and proposed bills for impacts on VASU and/or victims.* Attend all required meetings and provide updates on VASU’s activities as needed and as appropriate.* Ensure all Open Meetings Act requirements are satisfied for meetings conducted by VASU.* Prepare and submit weekly reports on VASU’s activities and other important updates.* Review all VASU contracts, make any required amendments, and submit for leadership execution.* Conduct legal research to assist with the administration of VASU’s programs or as otherwise needed.* Draft memorandums and correspondence as needed for VASU matters.* Review and edit reports or other publications drafted by the unit.* Review and update internal VASU policies as necessary and in consultation with VASU’s Director.* Assist with training and outreach efforts offered by the unit.* Make enforcement recommendations against certified programs in violation of standards and criteria or grant recipients misusing awarded funds.* File administrative actions against certified programs when required.* Advise the OAG on issues affecting or related to VASU and/or victims.* Other duties as assigned.**Required Qualifications:**Applicants must be, or be eligible to become, licensed attorneys in the State of Oklahoma. Strong writing, research, and oral advocacy skills are required. Preference will be given to candidates with experience in victim services.All applicants must agree in writing to complete, and satisfactorily pass, a background investigation.
