Flow cytometry is a laser-based technique that uses a fluidics-based system and fluorochrome-labeled samples to detect and measure the physical and physiological characteristics of a population of cells or particles. Tens of thousands of live cells or particles can be examined and analyzed for multiple parameters in a single test sample. Applications include PK/PD assessments, cellular phenotyping and functional assays, biomarker detection, proliferation, and toxicology. We can tailor a flow cytometry method to your research needs. Advance your program with our global flow cytometry expertise. Brian Wile, Ph.D. and Adam Cotty, Ph.D. from the KCAS Bio – Philadelphia site share insights about our labs, scientists, projects and use-cases for flow cytometry. “We are expanding investigators’ ability to explore the immune system and how it reacts to disease indications and new drugs during drug development.” Applications of flow cytometry in drug development

KCAS Bio offers high-quality flow cytometry services tailored to deliver precise, reproducible insights. With optimized protocols and expert analysis, we help you characterize complex cell populations and generate reliable data that enables decision making. Immunophenotyping

Immunophenotyping by flow cytometry analyzes cell surface and intracellular markers to characterize cells within a heterogeneous population. We offer pre-validated panels, custom method development, and fit-for-purpose qualification and validation for studies across pre-clinical and clinical stages. Method Development and Qualification

At KCAS Bio, method development begins with the assay’s research application, guiding panel design, gating strategies, and sample preparation while ensuring GLP and GCLP compliance. Assays undergo fit-for-purpose qualification or validation following CLSI H62 guidelines to confirm robustness and reliability for pre-clinical and clinical studies. PBMC Isolation and Cryopreservation

PBMC isolation separates lymphocytes and monocytes from whole blood. High-quality methods preserve cell viability and function for reliable downstream analysis. We have trained staff, established SOPs, and global locations (US, Europe, APAC) to process clinical samples with precision and care. Cell Sorting

Fluorescence-activated cell sorting (FACS) enables physical separation of single or bulk cells from a heterogenous population. We optimize methods and staining panels to ensure successful sorting for various target populations and downstream applications. Magnetic Bead-Based Enrichment

Standard protocols for magnetic bead separation allow positive or negative selection for a variety of cell populations, enabling downstream applications including activation and expansion in culture. Globally Harmonized Sample Processing and Analysis

KCAS Bio has expanded spectral flow cytometry capabilities with Cytek Aurora 5-laser instruments deployed across multiple sites. Instruments are factory-harmonized to ensure consistent results across locations. Supported by a global quality system and multi-site training, we maintain aligned procedures worldwide for reliable data in global trials. Data Analysis

We offer customized data analysis workflows and deliverables with FDA, EMA, and regulatory-compliant reporting. Talk to us about custom packages and the advantages KCAS Bio can offer for your data analysis needs. Tailored Functional Assays

We develop and optimize functional assays that deliver precise, high-quality, regulatory-compliant data to support complex immunology programs. Examples include ICS, apoptosis, cell proliferation, phospho-flow, ex vivo stimulation and suppression assays. Click to learn about all functional assays including ICS, apoptosis, cell proliferation, phospho-flow, ex vivo stimulation and suppression assays. Technology and instrumentation for flow cytometry

Our laboratories are equipped with a broad range of flow cytometers optimized for analytical and cell-sorting applications, including high-throughput systems and flexible benchtop analyzers.
