Responsibilities
Oversee complex computer systems analysis to support TxDOT’s IT infrastructure. Analyze user requirements, procedures, and operational challenges to automate workflows or improve existing systems. Provide strategic oversight and technical guidance for the development, testing, implementation, and maintenance of IT projects, programs, and systems. Manage multiple Tech Lounges (walk-up customer support desks), conference technology support, and field service technician teams. Coordinate information services and technology initiatives that deliver business value while minimizing operational disruptions. Lead as a lead worker, providing guidance and oversight across assigned programs. Drive operational oversight and process improvements for Tech Lounge, Conference Support, and Field Services Programs. Develop, implement, and maintain IT/IS architecture, including processes, policies, standards, and procedures, with defined roles and responsibilities. Recommend ITD processes related to hardware and software technology planning, development, and implementation. Analyze new or existing procedures and information systems for efficiency and effectiveness. Monitor and collect data to evaluate strengths, weaknesses, and performance of existing technologies. Monitor changes in hardware and software and communicate updates to end users. Troubleshoot and analyze technical problems related to hardware and local applications. Manage ticket queue in accordance with Service Level Agreement (SLA) requirements. May be accountable for developing, coordinating, or advising on metrics, audits, and root cause investigations. Perform other job responsibilities as assigned. Qualifications
Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer/Management Information Systems, Computer Science, or related discipline. Related experience and/or relevant technical training may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis. Substitutions for Minimum Qualifications: Work Experience:
5 years of experience in systems analysis, application systems support, or related work experience (experience can be satisfied by full-time or prorated part-time equivalent). Related graduate-level education may be substituted for experience on a year-for-year basis. License and Certification:
Valid driver’s license. This position requires driving a state vehicle. Preferred Qualifications
Exercises logic and reasoning to define problems, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions; makes decisions that support business objectives and goals. Researching, analyzing, and interpreting policies and state and federal laws and regulations specific to the functional area. Analyzing and organizing business and technical data to inform strategic decisions. Communicating technical information effectively to diverse audiences. Maintaining effective working relationships with others. Applicable knowledge of computer software applications and hardware. Using and supporting applicable computer systems. Scheduling, testing, installing, and implementing computer programs/systems. Operational Execution & Problem Solving. Troubleshooting computer systems. Physical Requirements and Working Conditions
Sedentary work: Lift up to 10 lbs at a time and occasionally carry files/small tools Light work: Lift up to 20 lbs at a time and frequently lift or carry objects up to 10 lbs Standing for prolonged periods Repetitive Motion: substantial movements of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers Close Visual Acuity: work includes data/figures; view a computer screen; extensive reading To be selected for and continue employment in this position, the selected incumbent must maintain the security or integrity of the agency’s critical infrastructure and will be subject to regular assessments of criminal history and/or reviewed for connections to foreign adversaries.
