This description outlines the Recreation Program Supervisor role at Eastway Regional Recreation Center. Position Summary
Mecklenburg County Park and Recreation is excited to welcome a Recreation Program Supervisor to assess, plan, implement and evaluate athletic leagues, tournaments, clinics, specialty camps, and fitness & wellness programs at Eastway Regional Recreation Center. The incumbent will advise and supervise staff in the functions of sports leagues, tournaments, clinics, camps, and programs, ensuring quality control, consistent rules and coordination. They will develop and implement fitness programs and schedules for various ages, and manage contracts for officials, instructors, and specialty camps. The role involves building relationships with community organizations, external agencies, local businesses, and area school systems to develop effective sport and fitness programs. The preferred candidate will have knowledge of fitness trends, equipment and classes to improve services. The position may require nights, weekends and holidays and will serve as Manager on Duty on a rotating basis. Note:

At least 5 years of experience managing athletic programs for youth and adults Experience working in a membership-based facility Experience supervising fitness/wellness programs and facilities Essential Functions
Supervise the recreation activities of groups within a program, district, or center Supervise recreational activities such as summer programs, after-school programs, community centers, special events, youth and adult sports programs Stimulate interest in recreational activities through communication with groups and individuals Supervise, train, and evaluate staff and volunteers Participate in planning staff conferences for comprehensive recreation programs Lead staff meetings to discuss plans, programs and issues Address requests, suggestions or complaints concerning recreation services Provide leadership, equipment and facilities to staff and the community Inventory control of equipment and materials Respond to emergency situations as needed Minimum Qualifications
Experience:
Minimum of four (4) years of experience in recreational programming; one (1) year of supervisory experience Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Park and Recreation Administration, Health and Physical Education or a related field Combination of relevant experience and relevant education accepted?:
Yes Licenses/Certifications:
Valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver’s License and County Driving Privileges; CPR/First Aid Computer Skills:
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge:
Principles and techniques of public recreation programs; facilities and equipment for indoor/outdoor activities; program assessment, planning, development, coordination, and evaluation Skills:
Develop, promote, schedule and coordinate programs; analyze community needs; oral and written communication; data entry and scheduling; record-keeping; problem solving; meeting diverse needs Abilities:
