Senior Cost Accountant – Sr. Cost Accountant – Cost Accounting Manager – Inventory Valuation – FIFO – LIFO – Weighted Average – System Implementation – System Upgrade – COGS – Cost of Goods Sold Are you an experienced Senior Cost Accountant or Cost Accounting Manager who would like to help stand up cost accounting processes from the ground up? A South Bay startup is seeking a Cost Accounting Manager to join their team. Reporting to the Controller, the Cost Accounting Manager will be responsible for inventory valuation, COGS, assisting with system initiatives, and supporting budgeting and forecasting for manufacturing. Responsibilities
Develop, implement, and maintain standardized cost accounting processes across manufacturing and supply chain operations.
Calculate and maintain accurate standard costs for materials, labor, and overhead.
Prepare and present cost reports, variance analyses, and margin insights to support operational and financial decision-making.
Reconcile and value inventory in compliance with U.S. GAAP, ensuring accuracy and integrity.
Partner with operations, engineering, and supply chain to resolve discrepancies and strengthen internal controls.
Provide cost data to support pricing, bids, and proposals (including government contracts) in compliance with FAR/DFARS and CAS standards.
Support monthly and quarterly close by preparing journal entries, reconciliations, and schedules related to inventory and cost accounting.
Contribute to the implementation of Oracle Fusion ERP, documenting and improving cost accounting processes.
Assist with external and DCAA audits, including Incurred Cost Submissions (ICE).
Deliver ad hoc financial analyses and recommendations to leadership as needed.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting
10+ years of cost accounting experience
Advanced Excel proficiency
Strong exposure to accounting ERPs
