You will be responsible for designing, building and deploying cloud-based infrastructure and managed services to achieve scalability, flexibility and cost efficiencies for private and public cloud systems that support the business. They are focused on creating opinionated cloud environments and systems like Storage as a service, Infrastructure as a service etc. that form building blocks used by other enterprises and product teams.
Responsibilities
Designing and deploying various opinionated cloud environments and platforms aligned with enterprise architecture and security requirements while meeting the business-critical needs of internal customers.
Collaborate with enterprise architect, security teams, solution architects, product teams, etc. to design, build, and deploy cloud infrastructure solutions to meet the company's needs for scalability, availability, performance and security.
Monitor system usage to predict future needs, ensuring that the organization scales its IT resources appropriately.
Develop automation scripts and IaC templates for configuring and provisioning complex cloud resources including identity services, virtual private cloud, gateways, SSL, Kubernetes clusters, NoSQL data stores, etc.
Integrate enterprise security and disaster recovery policies in cloud infrastructure configurations, ensuring data protection and data retention practices comply with industry regulations. Design, implement and optimize cloud-based storage solutions ensuring data availability, security and cost efficiency.
Assist in the execution of technology strategy and implementation of engineering roadmaps, including optimizing cloud expenditure, maximizing resource usage and ensuring high availability across required geographic regions.
Evaluate new and emerging cloud technologies for incorporation into existing systems, assist in modernization efforts to prioritize and execute migrations of on-prem services to cloud systems.
Experience Required
AWS Expertise: Deep expertise in the AWS ecosystem beyond basic IaaS. Proficiency in AWS networking (VPCs, Transit Gateway, Security Groups), IAM, cost optimization strategies, and leveraging AWS managed services (RDS, MSK, OpenSearch) to build robust and secure platforms.
Kubernetes Administration: Proficiency in provisioning, managing, securing, and scaling Kubernetes clusters (e.g., EKS, GKE). Understanding of Kubernetes networking, storage, and the operator pattern.
CI/CD & GitOps: Experience designing, building, and managing complex CI/CD pipelines with tools like Argo Workflows/CD, Tekton, Concourse, or similar.
Cloud Security: Knowledge of PKI, IAM policies, secret management (e.g., Vault), network security, and automated compliance.
Observability & SRE: Experience with metrics, logging, tracing; building observability stacks (e.g., Prometheus, Grafana, OpenTelemetry) and applying SRE principles.
Developer Tooling & Automation: Ability to write code to solve operational problems; experience building CLIs, controllers, or internal tools in Go or Python to improve developer experience.
Experience Preferred
GCP – Experience provisioning and managing GCP resources programmatically (Terraform, Google Cloud Deployment Manager, or gcloud CLI scripting) to deploy resources such as Compute Engine instances, Cloud SQL, Cloud Storage, VPCs, and IAM policies; automation experience is a plus.
Python – Writes production-grade automation for cloud operations: CLIs and functions that interact with AWS/GCP SDKs, handle pagination/retries/backoff, and include tests and logging.
Builds small tools/services: e.g., cost/reporting jobs, security/compliance checks, drift detectors, secret rotation workflows, or data movers.
Packages code with virtual environments/poetry/pip-tools, structures modules cleanly, and integrates with CI/CD; comfortable with async/concurrency when needed.
