An Innovation Labs Digital Assets Application Senior Engineer is a hands-on software engineer (Back End, Java) with experience building production web applications. The role is part of the core team building Citi Integrated Digital Assets Platform (CIDAP). The ideal candidate is a self-driven, enterprise-level developer who can collaborate effectively within Citi’s software engineering network. You will build the backend of enterprise-grade web applications with an understanding of web3 infrastructure, blockchain technology, and digital assets. Experience with web3 application development is a plus. Responsibilities
Collaborate with team members on the implementation approach of web applications leveraging blockchain technology Own and deliver end-to-end functional scope of applications leveraging blockchain technology while meeting quality standards Address solution engineering challenges to meet stakeholders’ requirements and expectations Apply best practices and design patterns for enterprise web applications Apply best practices and design patterns for web3 applications Use collaborative tools to manage and deliver work in a distributed team Contribute to and maintain technical documents for code and applications Communicate effectively in a distributed team and be a team player Resolve/escalate issues as needed to deliver projects on time, on budget, and with quality Qualifications/Experience
Bachelor’s degree in CS or Engineering; MS or PhD a plus 7 to 10 years of full software development and testing lifecycle experience; financial services industry a plus 5 to 7 years of backend web development with Java Spring 1 to 3 years of web3 application development a plus 1 to 3 years of experience with asynchronous programming and communication Experience building reliable, scalable, high-performance web applications Familiarity with web3 libraries (e.g., Web3J, Web3JS) a plus Familiarity with Solidity and DevOps basics, containerization, and Agile/Scrum a plus Competencies/Skills
Enjoy coding Strong team player able to communicate with technical and non-technical stakeholders; startup mindset Proven history of delivering high-quality, complex software Strong engineering fundamentals: testing, code reviews, readable and maintainable code Hands-on full-stack development experience for enterprise-grade web applications Solid computer science fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, design patterns Experience with deployment and management tools (e.g., Git, Jira, Jenkins, Helm) Development Value
You will gain significant exposure to Citi’s technologies, businesses, and engineering groups. You’ll work with globally distributed teams and senior leadership, gaining visibility across Citi and the opportunity to contribute to disruptive initiatives for commercial benefit.
