Senior Accountant
Dallas, TX- Hybrid- 4 days onsite (Outside of close)
Compensation:
$90k-$95k + bonus (depending on experience) Position Summary:
One of Vaco’s Clients is looking for a highly motivated and detail-oriented
Senior Corporate Accountant
to join their Accounting team. The ideal candidate will have a strong ability to handle large volumes of data, utilizing advanced Excel functions, and will have a keen eye for identifying historical trends and performing variance analysis. This role requires a proactive, process improvement-oriented mindset, with the ability to create efficient, replicable processes and Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). The Senior Corporate Accountant will also play a key role in supporting various lines of the Profit & Loss (P&L) across the company, acting as the first point of contact for financial reporting and accounting questions. Key Responsibilities: Data Handling & Analysis:
Manage and analyze large volumes of data, ensuring accuracy and timely reporting. Utilize advanced Excel functions (e.g., VLOOKUP, pivot tables, macros) to navigate and manage data effectively, streamlining the process. Variance Analysis & Trend Understanding:
Perform variance analysis on balance sheet (BS) and income statement (IS) accounts. Identify and understand historical trends to inform business decision-making and financial forecasting. Process Improvement:
Drive process improvements within the accounting team, focusing on creating efficient, standardized procedures for financial entries and reconciliations. Develop SOPs that are replicable, timely, and ensure efficiency across accounting processes. Financial Reporting:
Support the preparation of financial reports, focusing on variance analysis and financial trends across the corporate side of the business. This includes supporting specific lines of the P&L. Balance Sheet Reconciliations:
Reconcile balance sheet accounts, with a particular focus on payroll, benefits, and tax-related accounts, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. P&L Support:
Provide corporate support for specific P&L lines, ensuring accurate accounting and reporting across the business. First Point of Contact:
Act as the first point of contact for questions related to financial reporting, accounting entries, and variance analysis. Provide guidance and clarification to internal teams and stakeholders as needed. Cross-Departmental Collaboration:
Collaborate with various departments within the organization, providing insights and financial support to operations and other business units to ensure alignment with corporate goals. Proactive Problem-Solving:
Anticipate potential accounting or reporting issues and proactively work to resolve them. Provide recommendations for process improvements and ensure accounting practices are up-to-date with current standards. Qualifications: Bachelor’s degree
in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA certification
is preferred but not required. Minimum of
5-7 years
of accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a senior or corporate accounting role. Advanced proficiency in
Excel , including the use of pivot tables, VLOOKUP, and macros for data management and analysis. Strong experience with
variance analysis
and understanding of historical financial trends. Proven ability to identify areas for
process improvement
and implement changes to enhance efficiency and accuracy. Experience with
balance sheet reconciliations , particularly in areas such as payroll, benefits, and tax accounts. Experience in
corporate accounting
and supporting P&L lines across a large organization. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to think proactively and identify areas for improvement. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks and deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Excellent communication skills and the ability to work cross-functionally with various teams and departments.
