Applies fundamental accounting principles within an assigned area of financial operations or group of accounts. Compiles financial information, prepares and processes journal entries into various accounts, and reconciles account balances using various reports and financial applications. Maintains accurate accounting records and supports the presentation of the financial statements by examining and interpreting accounting records. Analyzes complex financial data and reports on the results and probable implications. Major Areas of accountability
General
Applies fundamental accounting principles within a group of accounts, generally within a specialized area. Prepares and processes journal entries into various accounts. Reconciles general ledger accounts and corresponding sub-ledgers. Records, classifies, and summarizes financial transactions and events in accordance with statutory accounting principles. Assists in the development of financial reports for financial analysis, forecasting, trending, and results. Interprets financial transactions and events for users who must make economic or business decisions. Maintains financial security by following internal controls. Researches applicable laws and regulations as needed for new transactions, events, and situations as they arise and document findings in memo format for AVP/CFO review. Applies a working knowledge of applicable laws and regulations; verifies documents for completeness and compliance with government and private agencies. Uses various software applications to analyze, compile and/or format data and reports. Maintains accurate process documentation of all assigned areas and continuously looks for ways to improve efficiency and effectiveness of processes. Assist with special finance and accounting related projects as requested.
