Position Overview:
Our client, a reputable public accounting firm, is seeking a highly skilled and motivated
Audit Senior
to join their growing audit team. The Audit Senior will be responsible for managing and executing audit engagements, leading client interactions, and overseeing the work of junior staff. Key Responsibilities:
Lead Audit Engagements:
The Audit Senior will manage all phases of audit engagements, including planning, fieldwork, and completion. They will be responsible for coordinating the day-to-day activities of the audit team and ensuring efficient execution of the audit process.
Client Relationship Management:
This role involves acting as the primary point of contact for clients throughout the audit process. The Audit Senior will build and maintain strong client relationships, ensuring that all client needs are addressed in a timely and professional manner.
Supervise and Mentor Junior Staff:
The Audit Senior will oversee the work of junior auditors, providing guidance, mentorship, and on-the-job training. They will review the work of junior staff, ensuring high-quality and accurate outputs.
Risk Assessment and Audit Planning:
The Audit Senior will lead the risk assessment process for each audit, develop tailored audit plans, and ensure that the audit approach aligns with client needs and industry standards.
Financial Reporting:
The Audit Senior will assist with the preparation and review of financial statements, ensuring compliance with applicable accounting standards (e.g., GAAP, IFRS). They will also ensure the timely and accurate completion of financial reports.
Technical Expertise and Research:
This position requires staying current on relevant accounting, auditing, and regulatory standards. The Audit Senior will apply technical knowledge to audit engagements and provide recommendations to clients on improving their financial and operational processes.
Communication with Clients and Internal Teams:
The Audit Senior will communicate audit findings, risks, and recommendations to clients in a clear, concise, and actionable manner. They will also work closely with internal team members to ensure the smooth delivery of audit services.
Engagement Management:
The Audit Senior will monitor engagement budgets, timelines, and resources to ensure that projects are completed within scope and deadlines. They will also ensure that the audit process complies with the firm's quality control standards and regulatory requirements.
CPE and Training:
The Audit Senior will contribute to the professional development of the audit team by sharing knowledge and presenting on technical topics during internal training sessions.
Qualifications:
Experience:
Minimum of 3–5 years of audit experience in public accounting, with a focus on leading audits and managing client relationships. Experience with both private and public sector clients is a plus.
Education:
A Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field. CPA certification is preferred, or candidates actively pursuing licensure.
Skills:
Strong knowledge of U.S. GAAP, IFRS, and auditing standards.
Excellent organizational and time management skills, with the ability to manage multiple engagements simultaneously.
Leadership and mentoring skills, with experience managing and reviewing junior staff work.
Exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to interact effectively with clients and colleagues.
Proficiency in audit software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Industry Experience:
Experience in governmental, nonprofit, or other specialized audits is desirable but not required.
