SGC is a well-established surveying firm that excels in delivering exceptional results through precision, accuracy, and innovative solutions. SGC Surveying is currently seeking a SUE Crew Chief. The SUE Crew Chief is responsible for leading the safe, accurate, and efficient execution of Level A and Level B SUE field operations. This position works in close collaboration with the SUE Project Manager, SUE Manager, and other designated personnel to ensure successful project delivery within scope, schedule, and budget. Compensation is based on experience. This role will require travel on a consistent basis. Overview

The SUE Crew Chief is responsible for the safe, thorough, and accurate production of SUE projects to which they are assigned, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and project requirements. Responsibilities

Adhere to and ensure compliance with all SGC Safety protocols during SUE project field operations. Demonstrate personal leadership and model servant leadership for project team members. Exemplify a proactive, Total Ownership philosophy. Collaborate with the SUE PM and SUE Manager to allocate SUE Technicians for project roles that meet scope, schedule, and budget requirements. Work collaboratively with project team members to accomplish project goals. Safety-focused duties including loading/unloading equipment, mobilization to/from sites, and Level A and Level B field production. Conduct a safety briefing documented by a Job Hazard Analysis (JHA) upon arrival at each job site or when conditions change. Motivate SUE Technicians to engage in safety protocols and exercise Stop Work Authority when needed. Participate in scope briefs prior to mobilizing to project sites; understand project goals, scope limits, and pertinent documentation. Ensure that scope limits and tasks are completed thoroughly and accurately. Investigate ground indicators of subsurface utilities within the project scope using GPR and EM Locators; include above-ground indicators as needed. Ensure all subsurface utilities present on provided documents are accounted for. Maintain daily contact with the SUE PM or SUE Manager in the field. Cost Management – Understand project budgets and drive efficiency by directing the activities of SUE Technicians. Schedule Management – Complete assigned tasks within or under the allotted time. Reporting – Maintain thorough, accurate, and professional documentation of SUE Level A and Level B field activities (photos, sketches, notes). Change Management – Inform the SUE PM/Manager if field conditions may exceed the project budget time. Relationship Management – Represent SGC SUE Division professionally with clients, other contractors, and the public; supervise team members to do the same. Closeout – Debrief with the SUE PM or SUE Manager before leaving the project site to avoid return trips. Develop and maintain a professional rapport with client, project team members, and stakeholders. Demonstrate leadership through example and knowledge sharing. Maintain target billable goals and participate in process improvement efforts. Comply with all safety policies, practices, and procedures. SUE Technician Skill Development – Build the skillset of paired SUE Technicians through ongoing training and feedback; supervise and conduct quality checks on all SUE tasks. Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Expert understanding of using GPR and EM Locators to locate subsurface utilities within project scope. Expert knowledge of Level A SUE excavation equipment and procedures. Proficiency with computer applications (Word, Excel, Outlook, project management software). Ability to prepare and maintain project plans, reports, and procedures. Strong written and oral communication with project teams, management, staff, and clients. Ability to work in a team and direct others’ duties efficiently. Ability to respond to inquiries from clients, regulatory agencies, or the business community. Ability to travel and work extended hours for project assignments and meetings. Education and Experience

Minimum of 2 years of experience with Level B SUE Utility Designation equipment and procedures. Minimum of 2 years of experience with Level A SUE Utility Verification equipment and procedures. Ability to communicate data and information about projects effectively in writing and orally. Natural survey or utility experience is preferred. Real ID is required for this role. Physical Demands

Duties are performed in a field environment; must be able to walk, bend, crouch, and perform other physical activities to capture SUE data. Must be able to lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds for short distances. Must withstand harsh weather conditions (hot or cold). Must be able to stand, walk, and perform strenuous activities for extended periods. Safely operate and maintain SUE equipment (truck, GPR, EM Locator, Level A excavation equipment). Benefits
