Sign Language Interpreter
AB Staffing is seeking an experienced Sign Language Interpreter available for the 2025/2026 school year.
Requirements:
High School Diploma or equivalent
Certificate of completion of an interpreter training program or Illinois Type 10 Certificate in DHH
Highly Qualified EIPA/3.0 or higher
Ability to interpret/transliterate in classes for hearing-impaired students
Knowledge of the Code of Ethics of the Registry of Interpreters for the Deaf
Job Description:
Details of the position and classroom type will vary based on school location. Recruitment specialists can discuss details upon application to match you with the classroom best suited to your experience and skills. The contract runs through the school year, 37.5 to 40 hours per week, following the academic district calendar.
Essential Functions:
Provide interpreting and transliterating services for hearing-impaired students.
Assist in evaluating, with the student’s case manager, the appropriate interpreting methods for mainstream classes.
Support classroom routines by clarifying concepts, reviewing lessons, and guiding students.
Coordinate tutoring or follow-up sessions for additional instruction.
Interpret at special activities (e.g., captioned films, assemblies).
Perform other duties as assigned.
Salary:
$45 to $52/hr, approximately $1,800 to $2,080 per week.
